What is a Quinceanera - Entertainment - Music

By,DJ Francisco H. Perez, Also Know as Simply Frank, Of Elegante Entertainment, Houston DJ Services.

Quinceaneras, in case you didn't know, are a young Latino Woman's Celebration as she approaches her adulthood, her coming of age celebration. This is a Latino tradition as old as anyone can remember. It initially started as a ceremony celebrating that the young lady was now a woman and now could perform the chores of the rest of the women in the group. One chore was that she was available for marriage and the ability to raise children.

Today, Quinceaneras, are a tradition, and Latino people still celebrate it, but mainly out of tradition. We still have reason to celebrate, but the reasons are different. A young lady at the age of 15 is now faced with many decision, obstacles and situations that she previously never had to deal with. For one, she has entered into High School and is just bombarded with so many different things at once that she is literally shocked. Immediately she has to make decisions about who to hang out with, who leave behind, who she is, etc

Here are 3 reasons why we celebrate the coming of age of a young lady.

1. To support her with the new challenges of Peer Pressure2. That she now feels like a grown up individual who needs her space3. To support her with decisions that will affect the rest of her life

Lets elaborate a little bit more.

A young lady entering High School from Middle School is full of confusions, fear, new experiences, older boys and girls, groups of people, peer pressure, and a bit of excitement. For a young lady, all this is tough to handle and digest in a matter of weeks. Almost instantly she has to establish who she is and who she will hang out with.

First, a quinceanera is a celebration that the parents support the young lady as she enters this new lifestyle that will be full of good and bad influences. Hopefully all the preparation, the natural upbringing of the young lady, will help her overcome that confusion so that she is not susceptible of the negative peer pressure of drugs, sex, and alcohol. Through these years she will need her true friends and family to help her get past those negative influences.

Second, young ladies, during this age, are starting to feel more like individuals. They no longer feel like the little nine year old girl, they are young women, their bodies are changing and they want their space, their privacy. They want to be. They start noticing how the adults in the family act, react and start modeling themselves after them. They want to act and do everything that adults do, even though they might not want to admit it, they especially model themselves after their parents; the first real influence in their lives.

Finally, we celebrate this occasion to help support the young lady with the upcoming decisions she will have to make that are going to be a big part of her life. She has so many decisions to make. In addition to who she will be friends with, she will have to decide the career path she is going to take, who her prince charming is and if he is at her school. In addition to that, she will have to make more personal decisions about sex, love, and the intake of drugs and alcohol. These are decisions that will affect her for the rest of her life. Taking responsibility for all her decisions is the ultimate lesson that she will have to learn.

In summary, there is much to celebrate, but more importantly, a quinceanera is a celebration to show the young lady that her friends and family are behind her and are there to support her as she faces peer pressure, so she can feel like a positively influenced individual, and so that she can be better informed on decisions that are going to affect her for the rest of her life. Whether some like to admit it or not, these are facts of life and the young quinceanera needs her family behind her so that her coming of age celebration is just that, a coming of age celebration.

Christian Dating for Christian Singles - Relationships

What is Christian dating? Is there such a thing as Christian dating? Isn't the whole idea of dating sinful and worldly? Should a Christian date? Is there a difference between Christian dating and Christian courtship? These are some of the questions that I will be answering in this article. There are debates going on right now in the church about dating. There is actually a battle of words. As Paul so rightly put it, some people have an "an unhealthy desire to quibble over the meaning of words" 1Timothy 6:11. But by God's grace we will end those quibbles through this article. Despite the debates, you will be surprised to learn that many don't even know the definition or the meaning of the word "dating". This is not their fault because before the 1960s, dating, as we know it today did not exist. The buzzword at the time was "courtship". And many believers are more comfortable with it, so they prefer the term Christian courtship or biblical courtship instead of Christian datin
g.Are there really differences between those two words? Why are so many Christians suspicious of the word "dating"? Because apparently courtship leads to marriage while dating is about hanging out and trying people out, like clothes.Well, this is what Hollywood portrays. So I do understand and do share the concern of many Christians. But remember, this is the world's expression of "dating". Likewise, the world has got its own expression of "love". We all know the world's understanding and expression of love. Would we stop using the word "love" because the world expresses it Hollywood style? Of course not. Words are not the property of the world or Hollywood. They are communication tools given to us by God.So let's look at the definition of the word "dating" from wikipedia."Dating is any social activity performed as a pair or even a group with the aim of each assessing the other's suitability as their partner in an intimate relationship or spouse. The word "date" refers to th
e act of agreeing on a time and "date" when a pair can meet and engage in a social activity."Is there anything sinful about this broad definition? What do you think? Now let's look at the definition of courtship from the same source: "courtship is a traditional dating period before engagement and marriage. During a courtship, a couple dates to get to know each other and decides if there will be an engagement. It includes activities such as dating when couple go to dinner, movie, etc."I don't know about you, but there is hardly a difference between these two definitions. The difference between christian dating or courtship and secular dating lies in the "aim of each assessing the other's suitability" or "get to know each other and decides" part.Christian dating is and should be based on sound biblical principles while secular dating is mainly inspired by Hollywood these days. Christian dating is about assessing values such as commitment to the Lord and to marriage - it's abou
t developing friendship and trust etc... There is no sexual intimacy or intercourse involved. In secular dating, people assess "everything" including sexual performance. I have a secular friend who is a DJ and goes from one date to the next. When I asked him why he was doing that, he replied that it was important that the future partner demonstrates they are good in bed. Sadly, he is right, apart from few exceptions, this is what secular dating is all about it. Most of the time people want to get each other in bed. I remember that friend complaining about his girlfriend at the time and wanted to leave her. Why? I asked, he replied that he could not live with that girl any longer because of her selfishness and lack of commitment. So I said, why don't you talk to her about your feelings and end it. He said, "Well, the thing is that she has got a great body and she is good in bed." So he was basically saying, "never mind if I am going to be miserable for the rest of my life, as
long as she is good in bed." If you are a believer, you know that this part is reserved and kept for the consummation of marriage. Does it mean you don't talk or discuss sex in Christian dating? Of course you do, but you don't practice it.Christian dating is based on the desire to find a suitable partner in order to bless them in a marriage relationship. Secular dating is all about instant gratification and selfish ambition. It is about what you can get out of the other person. In contrast, Christian dating involves digging deeper, going beyond the masks and getting to know the real person, their character, personality, passions and dreams, ambitions and desires. One of the first things you need to find out in assessing each other is whether the potential spouse is born again of the Spirit of God, because not everyone at church is a Christian. Secondly, you want to assess how much the person loves Jesus; how important is their spiritual life? What role does the Lord play in
their daily life? You are not looking for perfection, but just the basics, the minimum at least. There are many more things to be assessed in getting to know the other person in a Christian dating setting. This is why we have put together a Christian dating course for our members at to help them get it right first time. Perfect-bond.com is a unique Christian dating site created and run by ministers and believers for believers. WHY YOU SHOULD SET GOALS WHEN YOU HAVE M.E. - Health

Why You Should Set Goals When You Have MEby Alex Barton

As human beings we are naturally goal-driven. Our brain needs to have goals in order that we know how to behave. For example, we wouldn't get up in the morning and get the bus, if our goal wasn't to get to work. We wouldn't eat if our goal wasn't to relieve our hunger, we wouldn't clean our shoes if our goal wasn't to get them clean. There is nothing that you do which isn't goal-driven. We need goals in order to function as a human being.

When you have ME you may still have many goals that you want to achieve - like going to work, going for a walk, socialising with friends, but you are frustrated because you can't fulfil this basic function of yours - to obey your brain's desire to fulfil those goals. There are two things you can do however. You can learn to create smaller goals that you can achieve and that you can succeed at to reduce the frustration and you can do what the world's most successful people do - make goals for your future.

Only 3% set goals for their lifeAt Yale University in 1953 a survey showed that only 3% of students set goals for their life. In 1973 when these previous students were reassessed, it was found that these 3% were more successful in every area of their lives than the remaining 97% who had not set goals.

Having ME doesn't stop you making long-term goals, in fact it is imperative that you do so because a lack of a bright vision of the future is a prerequisite for depression and lethargy. Having a goal will help to chase the blues away, give you something positive to focus on, a future to work towards which creates excitement and a supply of healthy, positive chemicals to the body and it also gives you a reason for carrying on when you are at the lowest ebb of your life. It also makes it far more likely that you will recover from ME because once you have a goal, you naturally behave in a way that will take you towards it.

It is a well known fact that the most successful people in the world, like Richard Branson, several presidents of the United States, Olympic athletes, Nelson Mandela, Bill Gates for example, Andre Agassi, all work towards their own goals, planning them, looking at the options, making decisions and above all ACTING, step by step. This is what you have to do in order to get yourself out of the pit of despair and ill-health. Plan for a healthy future and work towards it.

"If you continue to have the same thoughts... you will continue to get the same results. " The saying is that "if you do what you've always done, you'll get what you've always got". Did you know that 99% of your thoughts are the same today as they were yesterday? That means that if you continue to have the same thoughts, and it is your thoughts that dictate your actions, you will continue to get the same results. Einstein's definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.

Look at your life today and recognise that whatever you are doing and whoever you are doing it with are direct results of the thoughts you have had in the past and the actions you have taken ie what job you did, who you married, what course you did at university etc. In fact, your life now, is the sum of all the thoughts you have ever had in your life up until this moment and the actions you have taken as a result of those thoughts. That is why you need to change your thoughts, which will change your actions, which will ultimately change the result.

Paul Mckenna said that his life changed 10 years ago when he sat down and asked himself - if I continue thinking the way I've always thought, doing what I've always done, I will continue along the course I am on, and where will I be in 5 years time? This thought was so horrifying to him (and he wasn't sick) that he sat down and asked himself what was most important to him and what he wanted out of life. He came up with some goals and in order to achieve those goals he had to change his habits of thinking and acting so far in order to achieve them. Once a radio DJ he is now a world famous hypnotist and millionaire.

This is why your brain needs a goal. A part of the brain called the Reticular Activating System is responsible for filtering information from the outside world into your brain. Two million pieces of information per second are hitting the RAS and the RAS can only filter 126 pieces of information per second into the brain. A massive difference. Therefore it has to decide which information to allow in, and in order to do that it needs to know what it is that you want. For example, if you are interested in Ford Fiestas, it will allow all information about Ford Fiestas that it comes across to enter your brain - if you are pregnant it will allow information about pregnancy into your brain. It can't possibly accept everything. I'm sure you've noticed how when you are pregnant all you see are pregnant women everywhere that you never noticed before, or the fact that everyone else seems to be driving a Ford Fiesta all of a sudden! Therefore, there is no such thing as 'reality'. Real
ity is actually only your own personal perception of the world depending entirely on what is important to you and what you are focusing on. This means that you have to focus on something in order to get it, otherwise you will miss information and opportunities required in order to get what it is you want.

If you want to get well, you need to focus on good health... not sickness

Did you know that race drivers when in a skid are taught never to look at the wall they don't want to crash into, because if they do then the odds are that they will hit it. Which means that if you want to get well you need to focus on good health and not sickness. Remember the saying "Be careful for what you wish for". This is based in fact - it is science and a law of nature that you attract whatever it is that you focus on the most. The RAS accepts what you concentrate on the most and screens out the rest - that means that if you are concentrating on what is wrong with your life it will allow in anything that it sees as being relevant to being wrong in your life, and screen out any information about what is positive in your life.

What does your life look like right now? Is everything fine? Not if you've got M.E. it isn't. So making a goal for your life is what you need. You have to look ahead and create a vision of a healthy future. You have to write that goal down and keep it in the forefront of your mind so that your RAS knows what you are focusing on and feeds in the information that you need.

"Remember that a 1% change of direction every day, adds up to a massive change of direction over a year. You then have to think about all the things you can think of, however bizarre, that you could do to take you forwards towards that wonderful goal and you need to choose some actions that you can begin to take straight away - whether it is trying a new therapy, watching a funny video to keep your mood up, reading another book, walking a few paces etc. They have to be achievable actions but not so easy that it doesn't challenge you to change what you've been doing. At the end of each week assess how you've been doing, reward yourself if you've done well, and decide on actions for the following week. The Dalai Lama said that a journey of 1000 miles starts with a single step - and that is what you are embarking on. Just put one foot in front of the other, then again, and again, and again - and you will succeed. Read your goal regularly to keep it alive for the RAS in your b
rain. Remember that a 1% change of direction every day, adds up to a massive change of direction over a year.

The very act of setting a goal and writing it down will immediately point you in the direction of that goal. It will empower you to know that despite ME you are taking control of your life and it will provide you with a sense of purpose and set you on the journey towards the attainment of your ultimate aspirations. There is always something that you can do to help yourself however severe your ME is, so stop feeling helpless and start taking control.

There is no second cavalry that is going to come over the hill and rescue you - you have to use your own, extremely powerful force, the most amazing weapon that everyone has and few people know how to use to best advantage, and that is your brain. You have to harness the power of your brain to get yourself out of this situation. However sick you are, you are not helpless. You have to tell your brain clearly what it is that you want - in as much detail as possible - and it can then do its job of helping you to achieve it.

Never give up

Good luck with your recovery, and remember that there are many of us out here who have already recovered, so never give up. There is no such thing as failure, only feedback. If you try one thing and it doesn't work, then try another. Thomas Edison, inventor of the light bulb, when asked how he felt about failing to create light for the 700th time said "I haven't failed, I haven't failed at all, I have succeeded in finding 700 different ways in which light doesn't work, so I am 700 ways nearer to my goal of finding out what DOES work".

T-Pain Playback - Entertainment - Movies

Freshly dressed in a giant green circus hat and matching trainers T-Pain presented us with his highly anticipated 3rd album and Interview. Thr33 Ringz is due for release on his birthday September 30th

Last year T-pain gained five Grammy Nominations and has dominated the airwaves for the last year with his own solo tracks including Church and Buy U A Drink and countless collaborations with artists such Kanye West, Rick Ross, Flo Rida, R Kelly and Plies amongst a whole host of others. To date T Pain is also the biggest selling ringtone artist of all times with over 15 million downloads (excluding collaborations).

T-Pain on Thr33 Ringz

I named the album Thr33 Ringz because its my third album and I think Im the ring leader of the circus now. The albums crazy its a mixture of three T-Pains, the classic T-Pain, new T-Pain and the dont give a damn T-Pain. Ive recorded about 48 tunes for it so far, its still not completely finished but near enough, I wanna end up with around 18 tracks. All the tracks are written and produced by myself so Im getting all the cheques (Laughs)! The Artwork is gonna be crazy its gonna be like a pop up book with the circus theme to it!

T-Pain on how he creates his records

I just go into the studio and whatever comes out, comes out, I dont have a formula, whatever happens, happens. I dont intend to make tracks just for clubs or ringtones. I dont go in intentionally thinking this is for that.

Other projects coming up including a best of both worlds album with Lil Wayne

This summer Im touring with Keyshia Cole, Danity Kane and Lil Wayne Im looking forward to that, that should be sweet! Im also doing a best of both worlds sort of album with Lil Wayne which were starting in October, weve done a few bits already though. Timbaland is gonna be getting involved with that, I think hes gonna be executive producing it. Its gonna be called He Rap He Sing cos we both rap and sing. The name of the group is T-Wayne which is self explanatory (laughs). Ive got loads more features coming up as well, but Im shutting that down soon.

T-Pain on the controversy of Jermaine Dupri saying the Dj is dead.

The Dj will never die, Id say theyve become less useful now though because a couple years ago the only time youd here a new tune was when the DJ played it in a club or on radio. Now youve got Limewire, Itunes and all these places where everything is so assessable now. I started out as a Dj. The Dj will never die though I cant imagine being in a club dancing to an Ipod (laughs)

T-Pain on T-Pain is Dead

T-Pain Is Dead will be full of songs people wouldnt expect from me. There will be no autotune, there will be rock songs, Ill be collaborating with Country and Western artists and things like that.

MediaMonkey Lyrics - MiniLyrics lyrics plugin for MediaMonkey - Self Help

Those tired of iTunes taking up way too many method assets, not working, being finicky with syncing, and so on require to give MediaMonkey a look.

Does anyone keep in mind how negative we dealt with substitute lecturers in school. Truthfully, it would seem quite cruel to believe of how college students act when there is a sub in the classroom. Spitballs slapped the chalkboard, pencils trapped down from the acoustic ceiling tiles, and even disgusting sounds had been created powering the teacher's again. These are just a few of the classroom assault tactics that we are familiar with. I mean, feel about it. Your boss or instructor is driving you nuts. In simple fact, they are frustrating just about absolutely everyone. What greater way to have some fun at their expense than by pasting their faces on a dancing elf. Now that we are armed with free weapons of ridicule on our Pc that give us a harmless, however hilarious system for hrs of limitless fun, we can put down the erasers and allow absolutely everyone in on the joke.

So let's seem at it from a various standpoint, shall we. I'm going to make the assumption that you've received your Last.fm ID and password all set up appropriately and that you can listen to Final.fm radio by way of the Final.fm scrobbler and that individuals tracks are recorded on your profile. Is that an correct assumption.

In that situation, the program has a handful of capabilities that solve this concern: &ldquoClean Tags&rdquo and &ldquoEdit Unsynchronized Tags&rdquo. The two latter features are rare in music suites and tremendously appreciated.

Right after installation MediaMonkey commences, you are introduced with a welcome communication and the possibility to obtain the Gold version. Just click Ok to the message and we can start off acquiring factors set up. Or if you want to get the Gold edition it is $34.99 for a life span license and you will get the subsequent choices about the Standard version.

These kinds of flash game titles are enjoyable for a modest audience. Why restrict the viewing viewers to a tiny handful. It is a lot a lot more exciting for tens of millions of individuals to see our creations. Is not having your productions noticed by the world, the new wave of the web.

No matter whether you want to see your boss dancing close to in a monkey's human body, or play classic Breakout without having a keyboard or mouse, flash programmers are offering on-line consumers several hours of free, addictive exciting.

There are also some cool addons and plugins readily available out there in the MediaMonkey community that we'll be using a look at in future, like techniques to better handle your iPod, so keep tuned for that.

Good connection luck. Most of you will get a sympathetic ear and comfort at property. When you travel, constantly uncover time to speak to your wife or husband and loved ones members, to avoid possible conversation gaps. Most importantly, married monkeys should strictly resist temptations when they are abroad or when socialising with overseas pals of opposite intercourse.

In case you wish to drop asleep although nevertheless listening to audio, MediaMonkey allows customers go to Play -&gtSleep, which spots your pc in Snooze mode, but allows the audio proceed actively playing.

A few notes: Here's what users will get with a &ldquoGold&rdquo bundle (some of which are presently mentioned in the evaluation): multiple songs collections, automated file firm, superior car playlists, automobile-conversion and leveling, encode limitless MP3s, a snooze timer, previews, and more.

When you are listening to new music with MediaMonkey, you may possibly discover some information are the exact same. How can you remove duplicate information from MediaMonkey. Please see the solution.

It's been my knowledge that utilizing 'em the two isn't going to perform terribly effectively. Phase one particular is your friend the following. But if you want to "Question the DJ" I can operate with you to get it set up.

The last characteristic I will mention is &ldquoPreview.&rdquo It permits consumers to create small samples of tracks as opposed to the whole track. Even though this doesn't sound fantastic on the floor, MediaMonkey has a couple of recommendations for its implementation: You can show your new favorite band to a pal with no sitting through all forty five minutes of the album or you can engage in &ldquoName That Tune&rdquo.

MediaMonkey instantly scans your Personal computer for all sorts of music formats. If you have playlists from other programs, it's very good to know that MediaMonkey also adds m3u files, sparing you the discomfort of possessing to recreate them. The file explorer view on the left allows you effortlessly navigate your new music selection by types like artist, style or ranking. You can change tracks in MediaMonkey into any format you desire, dependent on what dimension or good quality of audio you are hunting for. MediaMonkey also allows you review and modify the quantity of tracks to improve your listening experience.

Bob Marley & The Wailers - Roots, Rock, Remixed - Entertainment - Music

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Los Angeles, CA - July 9, 2007- Bob Marley is one of the most celebrated and beloved figures on the planet and the term reggae is synonymous with the musical legacy he left behind. Digging deeply into that sacred catalog, the dozen remixes of legendary songs on Roots, Rock, Remixed are taking the familiar and cherished and reintroducing them to sound systems worldwide. Bob Marley & The Wailers - Roots, Rock, Remixed is slated for release on Quango/rockr music on July 24, 2007.

Featuring a crop of today's hottest producers - including Jimpster (Jamie Odell), Yes King (Rhys Adams & Mark Rae), Trio Eltrico (Boozoo Bajou), Fort Knox Five and DJ Spooky - Roots, Rock, Remixed balances that fine line of being respectful to the inimitable artist Nesta was, and using the bass-heavy, digital technologies available to us today. Nothing of the gorgeous, analog originals (including classics like "One Love," "Trenchtown Rock," and "Lively Up Yourself") is lost in translation.

While a lot of bootleg remixes of these songs exist - every song is from the legendary Lee Perry-produced Black Ark days - Roots, Rock, Remixed is the first remix album to receive a certified blessing from the Marley family and Chris Blackwell, himself, who stated, "Roots, Rock, Remixed retains the songs and the spirit of the original Wailers' recordings and creates a great dance party record."

"We thought there was a lack of quality Bob Marley remixes for the underground," says David Hargis, co-producer and VP of A&R at rockr music, which spearheaded this project. "There have been a few high profile, mass market projects, but we wanted to present something for dance club audiences. There's a lot of warmth and humanity in these songs. None sound too electronic or far from the analog originals. Everyone who worked on this project had deep respect for the music."

Yet, those drum beats and bass lines are completely new - the studio refurbishing of skilled hands and ears. Cordovan's hip-hop slick-kick adds punch to the sing-along "One Love," while Afrodisiac Sound System takes "Soul Shakedown Party" from ghetto blaster to mega club experience. Jimpster's excellent retelling of "400 Years," considered crucial in the Peter Tosh library, makes this song of rebellion available for the four-on-the-floor audience. Through and through, the Wailers shine in every moment.

"We're honored to work with such an important body of music," says Jeff Daniel, the album's co-producer and rockr music's chief. "Marley's sound was like no other and his indelible stamp can be heard all through these great new remixes. We took great care not to disrespect his legend."

"There's a really nice balance between those that stick to the roots, and the ones that create their own interpretations," says Bruno Guez, President of Quango Records. Adding to the sentiment, Hargis continues, "Some of the remixers stuck with the familiar song structure and layered modern elements into them, while others took samples of the originals and transformed them into something completely new. It was often astounding how creative these DJs & producers were."

Originally launching Quango under Chris Blackwell's Palm Pictures years ago, Guez knows the Marley catalog inside and out. While Blackwell was pivotal in introducing the young Rasta to global ears, this project is quite circular for the groundbreaking Quango.

"These are many of the seed songs for Bob," Hargis concludes. "He went back through his catalog and updated many of them for Island later in his career. In a sense, we're doing the same thing with these remixes. There are a lot of special songs here." Special, indeed.

New CD Distribution Channel For Independent Artists Announced - Entertainment

The music industry is changing again, specifically the way that consumers get their music. With CD sales slumping, vinyl record sales on the rise and MP3 music downloads now dominating the music landscape, a small Internet radio station is also changing the way that its artist's music is being distributed.

I spoke with DJ Tom of about the new distribution service that the radio station is offering.

"With digital sales being the main online sales source for music, most independent artists turn to CDbaby or iTunes to sell their music," explained DJ Tom. "What we are doing is making a move to 'cut out the middleman' so to speak, which will allow the independent artists to put more money in their own pockets, where it belongs."

DJ Tom detailed some of the specific ways that iTunes and CDbaby operate:

"These companies rely on their own affiliates to promote the artists that they have and really don't do anything to promote the artists. As an ex-affiliate for iTunes, I used to sell digital downloads for a five percent commission, so for a ninety-nine cent song that equates to a nickel. The artist in turn gets sixty-nine cents, leaving a twenty-five cent profit for iTunes, who are just an online warehouse cataloging music in hopes that their affiliates are successful in promoting them.

"CDbaby is a bit similar in that they are also a music warehouse that relies on other distributors, affiliates and the artists themselves to generate the sale while taking $4 for each CD sold to drop it in the mail. I can see artists with a CDBaby Logo on their website or MySpace page to buy their CD. If an artist wants to make $7 per CD sold, then the cost to the consumer is $11 through CDbaby. Why not just sell the CD directly using PayPal, add in their processing costs and sell it for $7.50? An independent artist will probably generate more sales at the lower cost."

So, CDbaby and iTunes do nothing to promote the independent artists who sign on with them?

DJ Tom explained, "When you go to iTunes you see what is what may be 'hot', like American Idol or movie sales or highlights. Sure, that may be what is popular and selling at the time, but what are they really doing to promote the music for the independent artists they are supposed to represent? CDbaby does nothing more than create an online catalog of music, charging the artist a $35 set up fee and taking four dollars per sale on top of that."

How does promote their independent artists?

"We feature artists on our homepage, add their music to our station play list, include their music in free podcasts, artist interviews, CD and music reviews and live radio shows along with other promotions, all to get the artist's music out there in front of the public, which helps generate interest in their music and the band," explained DJ Tom.

But here is the most exciting element to the music distribution channel that is instituting.

"What we are offering our artists is a CD distribution method where we would receive one dollar per sale plus credit card processing fees. This will allow the artists to lower the price on their CD for the consumer to benefit and also put more money in their own pockets, where it belongs. We are also offering MP3 sales at competitive industry rates directly from our site instead of an affiliate link that sends the consumer elsewhere to buy the music, then possibly having the sale fall through as an advertisement for a "Commercial" artist appears causing the buyer to become distracted and forget why they went there in the first place."

So the bottom line is very simple. iLike2rock.net is making a move to undercut most independent music distributer's prices and pass the savings along to the consumers, all the while putting more money into the pockets of the artists who actually created the music. The music landscape is changing again, this time for the benefit of the music consumer and the bands and artists who create the music. What a novel concept!

Behind Kerchoonz - the interview part 2 - Entertainment - Music

An interview with Kerchoonz co-founder and Scotland-based, singer-songwriter Indiana Gregg (part 2 of 2)

In part 2 of MusicDish e-Journal's interview with Indiana Gregg, we learn more about Kerchoonz, the site's multiple features and it's Choonz origins.

[Eric de Fontenay] The site is jam-packed with features and interactive areas. What other ways will you be attracting fans to the site?

[Indiana Gregg] There is a big online gaming area, video, live chat, TV, radio, news dig, and a lot of other stuff to have fun and be creative with. There will be a music discovery and recommendation engine to help fans find new music as well as a chart system for the various genres.

Hopefully, a lot of people will benefit from the free & legal model. Our focus is on helping artists get compensated for their work. But, we've made it fun for fans too. In fact, you don't even need to be a fan to find your "niche" at Kerchoonz. And fans are actually financially supporting their favorite artists without it costing them a dime.

Artists can track downloads and streams of their music. They will know what region or even city their fans are coming from. So, it can help to better target their audiences and plan their gigs. We're hoping that artists and labels potentially earn more through Kerchoonz than they may have done with traditional CD sales in recent years.

[de Fontenay] Word-of-mouth marketing is today's holy grail. What tools does the site provide to empower fans to support their favorite artists?

[Gregg] One way is through the use of "KWIDGET," interactive widgets that help spread the word. The "referral KWIDGET" promotes the site by allowing users to paste a banner on forums, other sites and in emails. For every band or pro member that joins the site through one of these referral kwidgets, the user who pasted it receives $5.

Users can help support their favourite musicians too. If a user from our site pastes an artist's music elsewhere on the internet by embedding one of our music players, the artist still gets paid for their streams when other user's click and listen or download a song through a kwidget. If they login and register for a band or pro account, the user who pasted the kwidget again gets $5. So, even the public can earn real money by referring bands and creative people to Kerchoonz. It's spreading the word with a fun and financially interesting motivation.

[de Fontenay] What role will the Industry Pros play on the site?

[Gregg] As we are going to be adding two additional "User Types" - Label & DJ - Industry Pro type users will be expected to be Publishers, Management Co's, Music & Media law firms, Engineers, Producers, Video Production Co's, Hire Co's, Accountants, Design Co's, etc.

[de Fontenay] Do you handle differently artists with a large discography or labels with a catalogue?

[Gregg] Yes, labels will be allowed to upload more media and create more Sub-Profiles than a regular 'Artist/band' profile. Also, there are Gold and Platinum upgrade packages available to all users types offering more facilities relevant to each user type.

[de Fontenay] What role does video play in Kerchoonz? Will video creators also be compensated for the use of their works?

[Gregg] Yes, if it is a music video and the video ISRC is entered into the Video ISRC field, the play counts and revenue will be reported back to the Video Performance Limited (VPL) body in the UK or local equivalent.

As the site develops, it is our intent to include licences with non-music genre broadcasters for their content.

[de Fontenay] How will Kerchoonz attract artists who currently sell on retailers such as Amazon or iTunes? More importantly, how will it attract fans that love music but are primarily using file sharing to acquire music?

[Gregg] We aren't competing with Amazon or iTunes. So, if an artist doesn't want to give the music away as a free download, they can simply turn that function off. They can direct their fans to any online store they choose. However, they will still get paid if someone listens to their music through Kerchoonz. The streams are encrypted, so they can upload the full song without worrying about someone simply "stealing" it. If they change their mind or just want to give away a few tracks, they can do that too. Kerchoonz is flexible this way. We want to give artists, musicians, labels, bands and filmmakers interactive tools and let them choose how they want to use them.

People who use file sharing to acquire music may want to listen to the music before they download it. So, by listening to the music on Kerchoonz, they will have helped benefit the band/artists before they decide whether they want to download it or not. We hope that if they like the music, they might go ahead and support the band by downloading it either through Kerchoonz or going ahead and buying it elsewhere. If they don't like it, well, they might not want to download it anyway. But, at least they have a safe and legal way of accessing it that helps the artists and the people who were involved in creating it. This helps give bands and artists and even labels the finances that they need to continue creating. And that's what Kerchoonz is all about.

[de Fontenay] Since you mention "what Kerchoonz is all about," where does the name come from?

[Gregg] Well, the name of the site came from the Choonz. Choonz are little purple people from a far off land who frequent the earth and bring us 'ideas'. The Choonz wanted to help us find a solution to the recent crises that the music and film industries have been facing on the blue planet. On their visit, the Choonz told us that they know music makers and filmmakers have been getting ripped-off and that we must do something about it for the sake of future creativity. To avoid wars and crusades, they were able to find a peaceful solution several thousand years ago on their own planet, Kerchoonz.

Choonz believe music should be free and accessible to everyone, and so they showed us the light and helped us create a way where music can be free to the public while enabling musicians and creative people to earn a living from their streams and downloads. We wanted to help out, so, out of respect for their wisdom, we named our social networking site after them: "Kerchoonz." At Kerchoonz, we think that the future of music won't work if musicians aren't compensated for their work. So, that's us, the purple website called Kerchoonz. Go Choonz!

top of recommended emusic list - Entertainment

eMusic Tries Out A New Recommendation Engine; Redesigns Homepage45 Commentsby Erick Schonfeldon December 8, 2008Indie music download subscription serviceeMusic and audio books is getting an overhaul. Individual artist an dalbum pages already have more of an AJaxy feel and incorporate YouTube videos and Flickr photos. On Friday, its homepage switched over to a new design centered around a new recommendation engine powered byMediaUnbound. Now, when you sign in as a member, you are presented with a grid of Music and audio books Youll Love made up of personalized recommendations. You can also sort by New Arrivals, which tries to give you new music that you will like, as well as standard Best Sellers and New and Noteworthy albums selected by eMusics editorial staff.Helping members find new music they will love is the key to eMusics business, and it needs to do a better job. eMusic has 400,000 paying subscribers who have downloaded250 million songssince 2003. Members can downloa
d anywhere from 30 to 75 tracks or 10-20 audio books a month before they have to start paying on a per track basis. Once people stop finding new music they want, they are more likely to cancel their subscriptions. Better recommendations would reduce that churn.eMusic wants to be your hipster friend who tells you about the latest, greatest bands before you hear about them anywhere else. How do we act like that hipster friend or that corner record store? asks senior vice president Jack Welde. He argues that the new recommendation engine will help them do that.Music and audio books recommendations are a hard nut to crack, especially from a cold start when the music service doesnt know anything about your tastes. The sites old recommendation engine provider, ChoiceStream, just wasnt cutting it. The MediaUnbound recommendation engine combines both algorithmic and human inputs to try to come up with better recommendations right from the get-go. It also is supposed to get better ov
er time, of course. On the algorithmic side, the recommendation engine looks at every action you take on eMusic, including searches, listening to 30-second previews, saving albums for later, and actually downloading albums. A download is weighted more than a preview. It builds a model for each member that takes into account genre preference, popularity interest, newness interest, experimentalism and expertise. MediaUnbound also takes into consideration global music preference patterns across P2P networks, Web radio, blogs, and other MediaUnbound music customers. On the human side, MediaUnbound has more than 40 music analysts that actively tweak the recommendation engine, and add in new music recommendations. They act like the independent record store clerks of yore. In fact, some of them used to be record store clerks, as well as DJs and musicians. How are MediaUnbounds music analysts different from the ones who classify music at Pandora? MediaUnbound CEO Michael Papish answers
me via e-mail:Pandora has created a feature factory of humans chained to headphones attempting to objectively rate the sonic features of every song ever made (well, ok, only ~200k hand-picked songs). We think this is a horrible use of use of the creative, constructive, opinionated, and (sometimes argumentative) resource called the human music geek.In fact, he had the following critique for all the competing music recommendation technologies out there from iTunes to iLike:To get your audio books check out emusic.com where they have all of your audio books you want.

Wedding Disc Jockeys: How To Select The Right One - Art - Dance

Wedding disc jockeys are responsible for providing music for wedding parties. The success of a wedding party largely depends on the type of music played. Hiring a professional wedding DJ can enhance your special day but only if he provides what you and your guests are looking for.

Apart from playing good music, a professional wedding DJ is also sensitive towards religious and cultural obligations. For instance, some churches prohibit you from playing secular music. Professional disc jockeys are usually aware of such restrictions.

Wedding Disc Jockeys: Things to Consider

There are several wedding disc jockeys who offer to play music at wedding receptions and parties. However, choosing the right wedding DJ is very important. Here are a few important factors that you should consider before hiring a wedding DJ:

Experience

It is very important to hire a DJ who is experienced in playing music at wedding parties. He should have a proper understanding of wedding protocol. He should have experience in interacting with and entertaining the wedding crowd. Also, he should know how to match and mix beats, to build momentum in the party.

Inexperienced wedding disc jockeys may not be well equipped with wedding etiquette and customs. Moreover, they may lack the understanding of beat mixing, which can make the music sound like a jumbled mess.

Equipment

Check if the DJ uses the latest music equipment, advanced audio gear and wireless microphone. Also, since this is a once-in-a-lifetime event, it is important that your DJ carries back-up equipment. Having spare mixers, music players, amplifiers and cables ensures that your party is not interrupted due to equipment failure.

Music Selection

Check whether the DJ has a vast selection of music that is apt for wedding functions. A wedding DJ who offers a wide variety of music is able to accommodate all types of requests from your guests. Also, this allows him to play music according to the crowd's response.

Client References

Ask the disc jockey to provide some client references. Going through the testimonial or talking to the previous clients will enable you to learn about their experiences. Also, this will help to alleviate any concerns that you may have regarding your prospective wedding DJ.

To know more about wedding disc jockeys, visit OccasionalSoundsEnt.com. The company is committed to providing professional DJ services to make your wedding day an unforgettable event.

How to Choose Headphones - Shopping - Electronics

Choosing good quality headphones for your MP3 player or another device can let you take your favorite music with you - jogging, doing housework etc. There are so many headphones available on the market but you definitely want to choose the best headphones among them. There are different types of headphones: DJ-style headphones, behind-the-neck headphones, earbuds (in ear earphones)... You have to try all types to understand which is the most comfortable. Comfort is very important, but another important thing is listening impression. Try different models, different brands, compare the sound of cheap and expensive headphones, feel the difference. This is the way to understand what is the most important for you; there are many things to consider when choosing your best pair of headphones. Maybe you need a pair of lightweight headphones because full-size headphones are too heavy for extended or portable use, or maybe you need a long cord; just think what do you want your headph
ones for. Some people like to listen to music when making sport, another want to do a little late-night listening or to enjoy a computer game. However there are some major areas that need to be considered when you're in the market for headphones:1. Sound Quality. The high ranges must be crystal clear and bass must be tremendous, check the chosen models on a very wide variety of music: classic, pop, alternative, rock; connect them to different portable devices such as cell phone, iPod, portable DVD player. It will help you to understand which one has a richer sound.2. Noise isolation. If the noise isolation of the headphones works well you can enjoy the music and not hear any outside noises. Outside noises may be a problem when you are in a noisy environment, so it is important to choose the model that cuts all outside noises.3. Price. Some headphones are cheap, others are expensive, but I think that the right choice is when you realize that you`ll never find better headphones
for the price. That`s it, do the right choice.

How to Get a Day Two - Relationships - Dating

A few years ago I was going through a slump with women. It was not so much that I wasnt meeting any; it was that the ones I was meeting just werent up to my standards. These girls were falling for me quickly, and I would soon have to break their hearts. It was depressing me. I was really starting to believe that either there were no quality girls left in the world, or that I just couldnt attract the ones I wanted.

About that time I went on Match.com. A little while after going on the site I started an online flirtation with this cute Filipino girl. She would write me these long rambling emails at four in the morning (that were just the most amusing things to read) and I soon found myself very attracted to her. We made arrangements to meet.

When she arrived at my house, she was even hotter than her online photos portrayed her to be. Within minutes of talking to her I was already feeling like this was going to be different. I was sensing a connection I didnt feel with the other girls.

When we got to the bar, things went even better. The conversation was flowing naturally, we were laughing a lot, doing shots together, and teasing one another it was genuinely the best date I had in months. Mid way through the date I was already imagining our future together. Although I didnt get a kiss that night, she came back to my house for a bit, and the evening ended on a high note.

The next day I couldnt stop thinking about her. And although it had only been one day since I saw her, it felt like an eternity. My better judgment told me to wait a day or two before contacting her again but I couldnt help it, I sent her an email that night. Something along the lines of had a really great time last night. What day this week do you want to play tennis (we had talked about playing tennis on the date)

She didnt respond to the email for a couple days. When she did respond, all she wrote was I had a good time too. You are a really funny guy, She never mentioned the tennis invite. The night I got her email I called her. She didnt answer so I left a message. She never called me back. I waited a week then emailed her again Guess we didnt connect as much as I thought or something AFC like that. She wrote back the next day saying Sorry Ive just been busy. Youre really nice Im just not sure what Im looking for right now in terms of relationships.

BAM it was over. The one girl I actually felt a connection with didnt even have interest in a second date. I began really analyzing what went wrong and it became painfully obvious why she had no desire to see me again.

Below Im going to go over the mistakes I made on that meeting. My hope is that by reading through these mistakes I made you might be able to notice a thing or two that youre doing that might be preventing you from getting a second date.

Mistakes that will Prevent Day Two

Too quickly deciding that you like her. The previous girls that I was dating I was always the one doing the judging. I would sit back and let them prove their worth to me. This put me in the position to be the prize.

With the Filipino girl, I decided too soon that I liked her. Once I decided that I liked her I started working too hard to impress her. I was way too attached to the outcome of the date. Girls can sense when youre investing more than they are, and it will immediately lower your value and put her in the position of being the prize.

Resorting to Nice Guy Lines

I really believed that I had experienced a connection with the Filipino girl. I truly believed she was feeling the same way. Because I felt there was this connection there, I let my guard down. Normally I would never show my hand on a date I would always keep the girl guessing what was going through my mind.

The mistake I made on this date was that I gave too much away. I was complimenting her way too much. I kept telling her how fun she was. I remember at one point I was smiling, and she asked what? and I said Youre just really cute. AGHHH

I kept bringing up plans for a second date. We hadnt even finished our first date and I was already asking her to play tennis together, to go see a movie she mentioned.

Because I felt so comfortable with her I felt at ease to tell her about my recent trouble finding a girl I really liked. I dropped all player mode and started to open up with her way to soon.

Not Escalating Kino

Although we were having a good time together, I was in nice guy mode, and was scared to ruin the evening by moving too fast. I would very rarely make any physical contact, and when I did I would quickly pull away as to not scare her.

Normally, even on dates with girls I didnt like, I would be advancing towards sex after an hour into the date. Here I was 2 hours into a great date and I was scared to leave my hand on her waist for more than a second.

Let her Call the Shots

Once we got to the bar, she quickly took the role of leader. She was the one suggesting what to drink. When the bar got crowded, she was the one who suggested that we move to a table in the back, when the DJ played a song she liked, she was the one who suggested we go on the dance floor.

It was like I was so scared of making a wrong move that I gave all power to her. I even broke one of my cardinal date rules; always be the one who ends it. About midnight she is the one to say it's getting late we should get going.

Trying to Plan the Next Meeting Before the Date Ended

In Bang, Roosh says always say see you soon when you end a date. That was something that I always naturally did before her, and have always naturally done since her. But that particular night I felt compelled to try to make plans to immediately see her again.

By making immediate plans you dont give the girl the joy of wondering when shes going to hear from you again. Remember, a large part of attraction occurs when the girl is away from you and thinking about you. The less sure she is in her status with you, the more time she is going to spend thinking about you.

Contacting her too Soon After Day One

I used the fact that we had such a good time as a reason to call the next day. The fact that we had such a good time should have been used as a reason to wait a few days to call. If she really had a good time she would be going crazy waiting for my call. The whole time shes waiting for my call my value is increasing in her mind by leaps and bounds.

I threw it all away by contacting her the next night. The minute I contacted her, her brain went OK I have this guy now let me decide if I want him.

When you dont call, her brain is going Does he want me? That is what you want her brain thinking.

Acting Needy When She Wasnt Responding Quick Enough

As many mistakes as I made on the date itself, I still believe I could have savaged it if I was able to stay cool during our contacts post date. Unfortunately I wasnt. Whenever she delayed contacted me, I got needy and contacted her right away.

And when I sensed she was blowing me off I did the worst possible thing my sending her a message stating my feelings and trying to guilt her into seeing me again.

So how do you get a day two?

If you want to know how to get a day two the answer is to not make these mistakes on day one. If you avoid the mistakes listed in this lesson then you should be having no trouble getting second dates.
