Secrets To Finding Your Perfect Wedding Venue - Business - Management

When a newly engaged couple starts thinking about their wedding day, words such as "bridezilla", "exorbitant", "stressful", "expensive", "chaotic", "nervous breakdown" usually come to their minds. Most couples experience financial problems for the first 5 years of marriage from trying to pay off their wedding debt. But it doesn't have to be that way. It is very possible to have the wedding you have always been dreaming of without putting a hole in your pocket. Half the struggle for couples is finding the perfect Wedding Venues.

Here are a few tips to ensure you have a Wedding Venue you can always remember within an affordable budget. Just like an artist needs to see his canvas before he starts painting, you need to decide where you want to hold your wedding. There are so many choices at your fingertips. Parks or nearby beaches can offer you a lovely scenic lead to the altar. If these types of Wedding Venues. seem appealing to you, check first with the park administration what the booking fees will be. Many parks have electrical facilities available but it would be best to check what they have to offer. Keep in mind that you have no control over the weather. Rainy weather can definitely be a wet blanket on the day you say "I do," so make sure to have a backup plan ready.

Many couples are under the impression that community centers are too tacky to be considered as Wedding Venues. However with the right lighting and decorations, a dingy place can be transformed into something completely magical. Did I mention community centers are pretty affordable too! College sweethearts? Many educational institutions have reception halls open for the public to book. Better yet, you can probably get an alumni discount on top of that!

Many couples miss out on the best place to tie the knot: Home Sweet Home! There is nothing more charming than a backyard matrimonial ceremony. You save a considerable lump sum of money and you can focus all your energy on hiring a good decorator and caterer. Keep in mind, if you do schedule your wedding in the evening, there may considerable additional lighting costs, including a generator if your home does not have at least 3 dedicated circuits for the lighting/DJ. Also consider a buffet if you are doing the wedding at home, as this will reduce the kitchen requirements of the caterer.

You will need to have an exact number of guests figured out in order to determine whether the venue you choose will be ideal or not. It will be tempting to add two, remove one, and shift a couple of others as your big day gets closer. But making last minute changes to the guest list will simply give you a headache trying to figure out how to fit everyone. Stick to the number of guests you decide from the beginning. Having your ceremony and reception in two different locations can be quite expensive, so save some cash by holding both in one location.

January, February, March and November are good months to tie the knot, as these months are considered out of wedding season months. But be careful, because even though February is an off season month, any wedding dates close to Valentine's Day are susceptible to holiday prices. Believe it or not, even the time and day can affect the price of your wedding. Sunday afternoons are ideal for marriage ceremonies as opposed to Saturdays which are more costly. Keeping in mind these helpful hints will guide you in your search for the perfect Wedding Venues.

How to Organize a Wonderful Wedding - Society - Social Issues

Those who have already planned the wedding know that there is a not an easy task to organize wedding in the way that would make everyone in 100% happy. In fact it is probably not doable and what is more, we shouldn't plan it this way.

Wedding plans are really tough and complicated. There are a lot of things to do and remember about and our nerves are not getting it easier. That is why we should make all our important decisions a few month or weeks earlier before the day happens. And don't try to please everyone, cause it is impossible, so we should try to please as many as we can and we can talk about success than.

It might sound a bit sad but the wedding is not only for the groom and bride. If we have decided to have guests on our wedding day, we should also make this event more special for them. So there are a few elements that we should consider to make it a wedding day worth remembering.

Music is very important thing here. It makes the mood and help guests to have good fun. We shouldn't think only about ourselves but carefully choose the band or dj that would play the music preferable for most people invited. If the music is lousy the whole party won't work.

Next thing is the place where the party will happen. Wedding house is also important here. The restaurant shouldn't be too fancy, which could make our wallet very thin and make a part of guests feel uncomfortable. But the restaurant shouldn't be too cheap - golden centre is needed here.

If we have those two elements we might give guests a chance to have fun in the way they want to, give them free hand to make it full of joy day for everyone. In that company we will feel good too and also have a bit of fun. If we want to have some kind of games at the wedding we should leave to the band - they will do this more professional than we do.

Organizing wedding you might be also interested in finding beautiful and inexpensive wedding wear, that why you should think about formal wear or mens evening wear hire and find something elegant for your special day.

Wedding DJs - How To Find The Right One For You - Entertainment

Don't let a bad DJ ruin your wedding night. Good music selection brings people together, and bad selection send them home. Here's what to look for when choosing a wedding DJ.

The DJ

Very early in your journey you will learn that there are two options when it comes to looking for a DJ. You can either go a freelance DJ, who works for himself and usually plays as a part-time income generator. The other option is to make use of a professional DJ hire company, who specialize in DJ services. While there are pros and cons to both options, the big thing to remember is reliability. Should you hire an independent DJ, and he falls hill or is otherwise unable to make it on the day, you are going to be in a tough situation. The opposite would be true in the case of a DJ hire company, as they have backup DJs available 24/7 (or at least, should have) for this exact reason.

The Music

The next consideration, either way you choose to go - is the music. You may have a pre-defined idea of what music you want at your wedding, but remember that the music at your wedding needs to cater for the majority. That usually includes everyone from age 5 - 85. For this reason, make sure that your DJ has a good collection of music form the 50s to current, as well as any preferences you may have. This is usually where the professional DJ's outshine the beginners - in their extensive music collection, which has been built up over the years.

The Equipment

The third consideration to be made is that of equipment. Does the venue provide the equipment, or does the DJ provide the equipment. Either way, you need to do a little research in this department and have make sure that whatever equipment is being used is of industry quality, and that there is backup equipment available, just in case. You can request an equipment inventory from your DJ and take it to a local music dealer for an unbiased opinion.

Testimonials

The final element that you should be looking out for (err... requesting!) is testimonials. Any DJ or DJ hire company worth their salt will have a stack of testimonials. Request at least 5 contactable references as well who have recently had their wedding. Do your due diligence and ring them up to get some feedback. Unhappy customers are quick to talk!

And that sums up the essentials in terms of hiring a DJ for your wedding. Of course, there are many other questions that you may have, and don't be hesitant to ask them. Your wedding DJ, despite any acclaim or fame, is still a contractor, and you are the client - don't be shy to ask the tough questions!

Online Wedding Calendars - How to Manage the Days Leading Up to Your Wedding Day - Relationships - Weddings

An online wedding calendar can tame a large and complex marriage celebration. If you are having the kind of festivity that takes months to plan, it can get confusing to keep up with all the dates and arrangements. This one helpful tool can help you orchestrate the entire production from beginning to end. It only takes a little knowledge to learn how to use one.

Basic Calendar Set Up

Start by setting up the basic dates. Enter the wedding date first. Work back from there, putting in the major events that will happen over the course of the 6 to 12 months leading up to the big date. First, add the events related to the wedding, from your engagement party (if you have not already had it) up through your rehearsal dinner.

Deadlines to Make Choices

Give yourself some set dates to go by when you are making decisions about your wedding. During the first months, mark days on your wedding calendar to be finished choosing wedding and reception venues, the wedding party, the DJ or band, the florist, the caterer, and the photographer.

Choose Dates to Go Shopping

Add to your digital calendar the dates you want to be done with your shopping for each of the items you need to buy. In the first months, you might need to go shopping for a wedding dress, shoes, and all the accessories. You may want to coordinate a date to go shopping with your bridesmaids to choose their dresses and shoes. A day to shop for flowers, the wedding cake, and wedding bands are all coming up and should be added to your list.

Schedule In Your Wedding Chores

You will need to set a date to be finished getting a wedding photo and submitting it to the social pages of your local newspaper. Dates for sending out invitations, ordering napkins and centerpieces for the tables, and making arrangements for out of town guests are essential. Schedule tentative times to meet with all the wedding professionals, including photographer, caterer, musicians, minister or other officiator, and florist.

Adjust the Schedule

With an online calendar, it is easy to change an entry for an event or chore whenever you firm up the date. All you have to do is to type in the item in the new time slot and delete it from the old date. This keeps you up to date and prevents you from having to redo your list every time there is a change.

Print Off Periodic Calendars

At first, you might just need to print off a monthly calendar. There might not be very much to do 12 months ahead of the wedding when you are just getting started. Later, you will want to switch to a weekly calendar when the events and chores are coming closer together. By the last few weeks before your wedding, you may want to start printing out a daily calendar to keep up with everything you have to remember for that day.

How to avoid wedding disaster - Relationships - Weddings

Since becoming recently engaged I have spent more time than I care to admit plopped in front of the TV, watching wedding shows and dreaming of what it would be like to win the lottery and host a lavish, care free wedding. I have seen countless brides and grooms on these TV shows with more money to spend on their big day than I have seen in my lifetime. Watching their wedding planning process is very eye opening and has helped me in coming up with ideas for my own wedding. I have seen it all on these shows; from brides wanting to ride in on elephants wearing $10,000 gowns, to grooms wanting to make their grand entrance in a helicopter.

These TV programs prove that a wedding can be one of the most frustrating events to plan in a person's life, and to have disasters such as reception tents collapsing due to rain, unwanted guests, or cakes break into pieces can leave a depressing memory forever etched in the bride and groom's mind. One cannot necessarily avoid a wedding disaster because no one can predict the future, but one can do many things in order to ensure a peaceful and fun wedding for all.

The first item the bride and groom must agree on is what money to spend on the wedding. This is the one cause of many arguments I have noticed. Sometimes the bride has lavish, expensive ideas that she feels she has to have at a wedding, sometimes the groom has ideas for expensive vehicles to ride in on the big day. The couple must choose what is important to them, because the biggest disaster of all may not be what happens during the wedding, but the bills that come in afterwards.

The next thing to focus on would be the date and the location. Destination weddings have been becoming very popular. To avoid having to deal with bad weather, pick a location inside if the couple has chosen an outside wedding. This way the staff, if there is a helping staff, can plan on both, to avoid rain or snow.

If the ceremony is religious, be respectful of each other's wishes and pick pieces of the religions that are most important to participate in. Make a list of things and work with the list. The only thing that matters is what the bride and groom would find meaningful.

A helpful suggestion would be to hire a wedding planner. A recent wedding I was in was beautiful, but the bride chose her mother and my mother as wedding planners. No one could really sit down and enjoy the big day because there was always something to be done. If one can afford to hire a wedding planner, or if there is a friend that would volunteer to plan the event for the bride and groom, this may be most effective in avoiding wedding disasters. Not to mention, everyone involved in the wedding can sit back and just enjoy the big day.

Find the best caterers, DJ's, band and photographers that fit in the budget. Schedule everyone to be there at least an hour ahead of time to ensure things run smoothly. This will help iron out any kinks in the big day.

If the bride has issues with weight and is uncomfortable with her weight, then it is helpful to start an exercise routine several months in advance, and not a few weeks before. If the bride and groom exercise together this relieves stress and builds a bond. It is a great way to start a healthy life together.

These are just a few tips that I have kept in mind in the planning of my own future wedding. They come from many afternoons of sitting in front of the TV watching those shows, and in helping my cousin plan her wedding. I can only hope that these ideas may help prevent disasters at someone's wedding. And maybe, just maybe, I will get to ride into my wedding on that elephant after all. How cool would that be?Ask DressesShop.com for advice in areas of Wedding Dresses. We write numerous articles providing information for the customers. Planning a Wedding on a Tight Budget - Relationships - Weddings

Just hearing that the average U.S. wedding costs close to $20,000 would send many couples running to the local justice of the peace. But if you plan well and look for less expensive alternatives, you can plan a fabulously personal wedding for well under that sticker price.

Studies show that couples in the United States spend between $14,686 and $24,476 for their nuptials not counting the engagement ring or the honeymoon. The average cost of your big day is $19,581. In todays tight economy, there are plenty of reasons many couples would want to look for ways to lower the costs.

Look at the Numbers

One of the best ways to get an idea of what the different parts of your wedding will cost is to check out a wedding budget calculator or estimator on the web. These sites cannot give you the exact cost or the price that you could get from the florist up the street but it will give you the average price paid by todays brides and grooms. Note: It does not reflect the price a wedding vendor would pay. As you would expect, the prices will vary widely, but at least youll know if invitations are $300 or $3,000 of your budget.

A good rule of thumb is to expect you will spend anywhere from 50 percent to 100 percent more if you engage veteran wedding professionals, choose a designer gown, book the most popular venue or ask for custom touches throughout the day. So when you start planning your wedding and considering your options, keep your mind open to all possibilities. Maybe a fresh, young photographer can do the job instead of that experienced photographer who costs three times as much.

Here are items you need to factor into the cost of your wedding, and ways you can cut costs:

Clothing and Accessories

The bride needs a gown but that can be a custom-cut and fitted designer gown or a dress off the rack that is altered for a perfect fit. And do not forget that there are places to rent a wedding dress, or you might be able to borrow one from a friend. One expense you may not have thought about is having your wedding gown preserved especially if you dream of a daughter wearing it one day.

The groom needs a suit or a tuxedo. It is definitely more practical to buy a suit that the groom can wear for years to come. But if that isnt important, rent the suit or the tuxedo. If you are someone who will be wearing a tuxedo again in the coming year for another wedding or a formal affair then purchase the tux. It will pay for itself after just two rentals.

Cost of Beauty

Most brides start their wedding day with a visit to the hair salon, but dont forget that you need to visit your hairdresser before the wedding day to work out your hair plan. Do you also want to get your nails done? How about a massage to relax you? Some brides budget in six months at the gym, teeth whitening and electrolysis. You decide what you can afford and what you can do yourself.

Entertainment

There are a lot of cost variables in the area of entertainment. Are you hiring a soloist for the wedding or do you have a friend with a gorgeous voice who would love to be part of your special day? Will there be a string quartet playing during the appetizers and a live band after dinner? Or will you find a DJ who can do it all?

Flowers and the Dcor

Weddings and flowers seem to go together. Start with the brides bouquet, which is traditionally purchased by the groom, but then there are bouquets for the bridesmaids, boutonnieres for the groom and his groomsmen, corsages for the mothers and grandmothers and flower petals for the flower girl to drop. And do not forget the arrangements on each table. Some brides have friends or family members who are willing and able to do the flowers. You may want to splurge on your bouquets, but cut down on the flowers at the reception. Or maybe you will find that balloons or candles can add the same spark of color.

Favors and Gifts

The bride and groom are not the only ones who receive gifts at the wedding. The couple will usually want to thank their attendants with a small gift, which can range from expensive jewelry to a more thoughtful memento, like a favorite book or a spa basket you put together with each bridesmaid in mind.Wedding favors are often placed by each guests plate. This can be elaborate silver picture frame or something as simple as a gift box of candied almonds. People come to see you get married not for the favor.

Invitations

In this day of do-it-yourself printers and online print houses, the price of invitations, reply cards, thank-you notes and save-the-date cards can easily be cut. You no longer need an engraved invitation when a laser printer will do a nice, more personal job.

Take some of these cost-cutting tips into account when trying to trim some fat from your weddings budget.

Hiring A Wedding Planner In Chicago - Relationships - Weddings

If a couple just recently became engaged around the Chicago area, the soon to be bride will have a lot of coordinating and planning to do. When the bride starts researching what she would like to have done, made, and much more for her wedding, she will instantly know it will be stressful, costly, and almost an impossibility to pull it off with no help at all. It is time to go shopping for a wedding planner in Chicago. How does one hire a wedding planner in Chicago? Look for certifications in wedding planning. Use the words wedding planner, wedding coordinator, bridal consultant or consultants when searching the yellow pages or online. Most now charge by the hour or package. Some brides will do some things and the planner will do the rest or even the final touches. So, it's important to know what is included in the package up front. Of course some things can be added or deleted as the wedding preparations further proceed. This is where a bride has a planner that listens and u
nderstands her needs. This person is flexible to changes and problems that come up.Hiring a wedding planner is like window shopping. Write out a specific list of things the bride wants done. Does the wedding coordinator handle the catering and the cake delivery? Will they handle the limo service and DJ'S along with the rentals of anything and everything? If the bride finds what she wants in one person, but another person can do something else, ask that person if they can do this too. See if they will add to the package. As competition is so fierce, it usually is not a problem!A bride to be does not want absolutely any problems at all on her big day. She should be hands free for that day. She can help the planner along the way, but it's the wedding planner's job to absolutely make sure it will be the most beautiful day of her life. Any problems are planned for. A backup plan is always in place. When a bride to be or the couple is shopping for a wedding planner in Chicago, rem
ember to get the advice of friends and family. Hear the good and the bad. Ask for a portfolio of the wedding planner's work. Even contact some past brides to learn feedback. Is there a blog the planner has that you can read comments on? This will help a lot in the long run.

Selecting a Wedding MC - Relationships

Most wedding brides assume that a Disc-jockey/MC (MC) main job is tunes. However that is not true. Not with an experienced DJ/MC who knows his role as Master of ceremonies and even, event coordinator, are as important as their obligations DJ'ing. DJ'ing represents about 15% of things i do at an event. It is my duties as MC and event planner that take up the majority of my time. Just how is this possible? Most of my work as a DJ is done prior to the event; meeting with the bride-to-be and groom, putting together the play list, determining the events that can occur at the wedding ceremony and wedding reception, in addition to any specific requests. This allows me to focus more on my duties as an MC and event coordinator at the event.

Given this, how must a bride-to-be select a Disc-jockey for her event? Here's what I suggest:

one) Discover what each Disc-jockey are in charge of at the party.

Some DJs prefer to remain behind their gear and just play music. Other people will happily serve as MC, coordinating all the events of the wedding reception, like the garter/bouquet throw, dinner, first dance, etc. This includes speaking with all your other vendors at the wedding reception, such as the videographer and photographer, to make sure that they are in the best place at the correct time to capture these special events.

This will help you review the DJs and their charges. One may be cheaper, but do much less than another. Whichever company you sign with, have the details in a prepared, signed agreement with a set cost.

two) Meet all the disk jockies you are interviewing face-to-face.

A MC/DJ is one of the most important suppliers at your event. Character matters and first impressions are very important. A DJ/Master of ceremonies really helps to create the tone and atmosphere at the wedding reception, so it's important that you check them out in person. Do they dress properly for this first meeting? Were they on time? Did they seem professional, personable and friendly? You may also ask them to make an announcement. Do you like their tone of voice? Do they have energy? Do they really present themselves well?

three) Check latest referrals.

Any professional DJ/MC should be able to present you with a listing of recent referrals; not just one or two, but 7 to 10. Contact those recommendations. You should get similar feedback from all of them. Ask if the MC/DJ went above the call of duty by any means and how they helped make your event a success. For example, at one of my occasions, the wedding coordinator at the facility became ill right prior to the wedding reception started. I quietly filled in and took over unbeknownst to the bride-to-be and groom, who had no clue exactly what had occurred until after the function was over.

4) Ask for tips.

A great DJ/MC has done hundreds of events and has observed different styles of weddings. Share the wedding suggestions with them to see what type of feedback they have for you personally. The DJ/MC can help you turn your ideas into a reality and also add details that you never thought of. Use their expertise to make your event much better.

For instance, I use my expertise in technologies and lighting effects to help couples create visual presentations and effects that may turn first dances and also the garter removal into memorable events.

5) Ensure they are available.

Your MC/DJ needs to be willing to meet or talk to you many times before your event. You might want to talk about your music choices, timeline of events, make changes, or ask for input. They should be excited and willing to offer their time to you for this once-in-a-lifetime, special event.

How you can cut your Wedding Costs in half - Relationships - Weddings

We all want that wedding where money is no problem. While for a couple that could be a reality, for the rest, sadly it's not! We should be concerned about stuff like budgets and cost cutting ideas and having to go with the inexpensive selection!

But it's not all that bad, the most important thing is that you along with your betrothed declare your passion for one another and you can still have that perfect marriage ceremony and stay within your budget!

1. Think about off-peak times and less common days!

Saturday is undoubtedly the most popular day of the week to get married, so dining establishments and wedding places will cost far more on that day! Numerous wedding venues give giant reduced prices for you to have the wedding on say a Friday or Sunday evening. My spouse and I enjoyed our wedding ceremony on a Sunday at our favorite place and yes it cost us half of what it really would have cost if we had it on a Saturday! It was still the most wonderful day and we even saved a touch on our alcoholic beverages bill as friends weren't able to party too late into the evening!! Furthermore, summer and spring tend to be the top wedding season's. Therefore think of selecting a date just as the high season finishes, weather will still be sufficient and you will save a whole bunch more!

2. Have a relatively smaller guest list

Do not feel forced into inviting just about every individual you know. You could get pressure from your parents and in-laws to invite friends and family that you just haven't seen in a long time and may not choose to invite. You'll probably enjoy the day a lot more having only your closest relatives and buddies there! Stick with a straight forward menu. A well prepared simple dish is often just as delectable as an expensive dish. Also your guests might not have a taste for the more specialist dishes. A terrific way to reduce costs on the waiting staff is to go for a buffet rather. This actually also ensures that your guests are able to come interact more with each other because they help themselves!

3. Make use of treasures from the family

Do you know of sisters or even cousins that got married before you? Consider using items that they've held from their wedding ceremony, perhaps they still have their veil, headpiece, garter and also jewelery! You could possibly find engagement rings or wedding bands sitting in a cabinet or safety deposit box that one could grant life to once again. You will not only save lots of hard earned cash, it will likely be special souvenirs! Use your family or friends abilities. If any of your family or friends have got a certain skill which may help you with the wedding, now's the time to call in the favors! They may be skilled in design and provide you with the wedding invitations, table menus and plenty of other stuff that would need a design! Or perhaps your own cousin can make fantastic desserts! Additionally you can get a better price by approaching local universities. College students might give a great wedding service for a fraction of the cost, but ask for a trial first. <
/p>

4. Why not give them a skip

You could skip the DJ as well as live groups and prepare a great play-list on a CD or your iPod. It will likely be all your most liked songs and not the same old classic ones like the Funky Chicken!!

5. Start shopping right away

If you start shopping right away it means you will not be hurried or feel compelled into buying something which is costly! Using this method, it will be possible to invest time into finding better discounts to help you shop intelligently and save!

6. Saving on your bridal dress

You could discover a simple and basic gown that will be reasonably priced and dress it up with lace, pearls or beads! Or search for internet sites offering second hand wedding gowns, you will be pleasantly surprised to see what offers they have for custom gowns!

7. Use an online wedding planner

Wedding planners can be very expensive and can set you back as much as 20% of the total price of your wedding cost. Utilizing an online wedding planner will save you a huge amount of cash to enjoy on your honeymoon instead. There are a number of great online wedding planners around and remember to pick one that fits your needs and provides you with excellent value. Often the free kinds are not worth the time and energy as they won't usually offer support and backups and ensure your privacy as well.

Ditch That DJ - A Professional Wedding Band! - Entertainment

If you are wondering how to go about hiring a live band, this article should help you to get started! If you have volunteered or been asked to organise a wedding or other party it is essential you get the right band for your event. The want a band that most of the audience are likely to enjoy.

Planning a wedding and reception is no easy task. There is a lot to do and there is a lot of stress that comes with the job. An important aspect of the reception is the music so this is not something that you are going to want to over look.

There are different ways that you can go, but the two most commonly are DJ or a live wedding band. Live music is your best choice by far and will add so much more excitement and atmosphere to your event than a DJ will.

The first step in choosing a wedding party band is to ask some of your guests what they want! Many party organisers make the mistake of choosing a band that suits their own musical tastes rather than what the guests are going to enjoy.

If at all possible you should try and watch the band performing live. Most bands play occasionally at smaller gigs such as pubs and clubs. You could also ask if they have any promotional material you can look at such as a demo CD or video.

It is important to know right up front what level of skill or experience they have prior to this party you are hiring them for. How professional are they in fact? How long they have been together as a group? Most bands have individual and group biographies in their written information on their website. This can provide you with an idea of how good they are.

Online websites are good enough to begin your research for a good live band. These websites often provide you with photos, videos, and even music tracks to help you decide. This will go a long way to let you see how professional they are.

Look at the testimonials of previous clients. This is a great way to find out how popular the band are when they play. You can normally find these on the bands website. While you are there you can also check out the bands repertoire list to check it will be suitable.

Try and find a versatile band whose music will appeal to a lot of different people. Specialized music such as jazz and heavy rock should be avoided for these types of gatherings. You should go for a more general sound which all ages can relate to.

Of course the price of hiring a wedding band is very important. So an initial conversation with the band manager is vital. Ensure the price is within your budget and if it is not try negotiating! Once you have made your decision you will need to put down a non refundable deposit to keep the date of your event secure.

A few days before your party call the band manager to finalise details. Check the final songlist if you want to and find out what the band will be wearing to make sure it is suitable.

Remember that the band is likely to have travelled a long way to play, so be sure to provide them with food and drinks. Lastly give the timelines of your event so that they know exactly when they will be performing.

Beginning DJ Career Tips - Entertainment - Music

Being a DJ famous all over the world is something every teenager dreams about at a certain point in their life. A few years ago, there were only a small number of people who knew how to play music for a live audience. Nowadays, with all the technical development, becoming a DJ is easier and easier. First of all you need to be really determined to succeed in the business. It is a business, indeed, and quite a big one. There are certain DJ's out here who mix for pleasure, but most of them do it for money. In the beginning you will not make that much money, so being a DJ is more likely a hobby. But with patience and, most important, practice, the times to make a living out of it and even a bright career are not to far. In an area like South Florida, where you can find a large number of nightclubs, there are so many chances for you to prove your skills.

Let's start with the basics. Being a DJ requires a few skills: to have an impressive musical knowledge, to be able to entertain and "read" a live audience and to know how to use the equipment needed.

For the beginning, you need to get familiarized with the equipment. The basic tools you'll need are: a mixer, turntables or professional CD players, professional headphones (will not distort the sound at high volume) and amplified speakers. Later on, if you become more advanced in mixing you can acquire more equipment.

To make things a little simpler, lately more and more DJ's are using the laptop and designated software to do the mixes. For the laptop you need to choose a good brand, to make sure it will not crash in the middle of a gig and if it's possible to have a USB sound card. You can find dedicated software, but usually you find the demo version and after that you will need to buy the program in order to use all the features. Most common used programs are Virtual DJ and Traktor, but you can also find other dedicated software.

Before you invest any money in the equipment, it's useful if you can arrange to mix on somebody else's tools. When you will go out to buy your own stuff you'll know exactly what you need. It is extremely important to know how to do beatmatching, meaning to match the bass beats between the song playing and the next one in a seamless transition. It takes a lot of practice, but once you know how you may try more advanced things like scratching or backspinning.

If you use the laptop everything becomes easier, the programs will show you the BPM of every track, so beatmatching will be a piece of cake.

In order to learn as much as possible keep in touch with the DJ world by watching other DJ's at work and understanding how they sue the equipment, checking the forums and being constantly updated with what is happening around. In South Florida there is always something going on, so that is really easy to do. Also you may spend some time online and watch the tutorials about DJ'ing and different techniques, tips and tricks.

A new trend in the market is called DVJ'ing, correctly DJ VJ (Disc Jockey, Video Jockey), but when Pioneer launched the DVJ 1000, the device which allows you to play music and video effects in the same time, they also gave the right name to it. It's highly requested in the market, so if you learn how to do it, you will have a better chance in getting more gigs.

Maybe the most important thing, beside your strong will, is the time you offer for practice, the more the better. The results will show up, we are absolutely confident about it.

A piece of equipment important to mobile DJs is made up of sound recordings in a chosen medium, which is usually compact disc, MP3s or vinyl records. You need two playback devices for sound recordings so you can alter back and forth to create a flow of continuous playback. To broadcast the music, you need a sound system for magnifying the recordings. Aside from this, all you need to start your career as a DJ is a microphone and a mixer.

You need headphones to hear one recording while another is playing, without the audience being able to hear the sound. To learn more about purchasing the right DJ equipment talk to experienced DJs, read DJ related magazines and visit the many DJ websites on the Internet to obtain sufficient information to be a successful DJ.

1. Be well-mannered of her profession. Never make reference to what she does as "stripping"; the term for her is "stripper." And she doesn't work on a "strip club"; phrase it as a "club" or a "gentleman's club."

Also, "chump customers" want to ask her regarding her job, regardless of whether she enjoys it, what it's really like to be a stripper, etc. These sexy strippers do not want to be defined as strippers and these types of questions will bore them at best, and piss them them off at worst.

As an alternative, let her know (or imply) that you've dated dancers before-or have dancer friends-and demonstrate knowledge of her profession. Project the impression you are aware the game and it's no big deal; she's got a job to do, just like you do, and what's important is that you're both cool, interesting, unique people who are vibing together on a deep level.

2. Befriend the workers: bouncers, coat check, bus boys, DJs, supervisors, owner, etc. When you visit, personnel should be aware of and greet you. This provides you high social value in the eyes of the dancers; you're not a common customer.

The thing is, you're building up your social network so that when you return, you'll be welcomed by the staff. In the event the sexy strippers observe this, you score major points-and they know you're not a chump client for them to run their silly routines on.)

3. Don't ignore, she's presently there to make money and the bosses expect her to hustle. (If you were flirting with a waitress at a restaurant, you wouldn't expect her to sit down with you for a half-hour while customers are trying to order food.) Go on slow nights (or during slower shifts) when there aren't chump customers vying for her attention.

You must never buy a dance right away, since this is "chump customer" behavior. In terms of whether you should ever buy a dance from her, the answer is, "it depends how you play it."

Essentially, you're going to buy a dance from herbut then ask her to sit down half-way through the song to enable you to "critique" her performance. Funny stuff-and more behavior that frames you as an experienced player who doesn't view her as an object of sexual fantasy, and recognizes her job in a way that no "customer" does.

4. Work towards the Same Night Lay whenever you can. Most strippers I know will go somewhere after work to get something to eat, or have a few drinks and decompress. There are "stripper hangout spots" near the clubs where the girls go, but you might not know it because they are dressed very casually when they leave work. (When strippers are experiencing a glass or two after work, or running errands the next day, they try to downplay their sexiness since they don't want customer-type dudes constantly trying to talk to them.)

This program will reveal how to identify these "after-work spots" and work them into your strategy, so that you can easily line up dates with the strippers you meet at the clubs-and encourage them to come home with you that same night.

5. It might take a couple of visits for you to "close" the dancer you like (getting her number, or meeting her after her shift). If you're not purchasing dances, and she has to go, encourage her to go make money: "I've got a bit of business to go handle and I can see there a lot of lonely guys in here who'd love to pay for your company-so I need to bounce, I'll text you later about meeting at the spot so we can (fill in the blank)."

But she can't leave work early. Strippers need to complete their shirts. So for now, make your exit in the same smooth, confident manner in which you entered.

You are aware that whether this strip club conversation ends up leading to sex tonight, or not, you are being a master of this game and there are other hot strippers for the reason that club, and millions outside the front door, which can be waiting to meet a confident, charismatic, original Mack such as yourself.

How To Choose The Portable PA System That's Right For You - Shopping - Electronics

First of all, it is worth noting that this article does not deal with PA systems designed for DJ's or live bands! Instead, we concentrate on systems which are used primarily for voice or music reinforcement, i.e. for localised communication and smaller scale entertainment. Fundamentally, taking the above qualification into account, there are two types of portable PA (public address) system which are differentiated by their derived source of operating power. The options are for a wireless re-chargeable battery powered system or the more traditional wired mains electric powered system.

An Introduction to Battery Powered Portable Public Address SystemsAlso able to run on mains power when appropriate, battery powered portable PA systems are far more flexible in their range of applications and locations as they are not dependant on a mains supply being close at hand and so are very popular for outdoor use. Typical examples would be for sports events, fetes, carnivals, busking, market stalls, auctions, guided tours, etc. However, their indoor use is also very valid for presentations, conferences, meetings, etc. as they are quick and easy to set up and eliminate the existence of trailing cables.

The down side of battery powered portable PA systems is the limitations placed on them by the internal battery itself which restricts the continuous operating time to anything between 5 and 8 hours as well as limiting the audio output power to a maximum of 250W. Nonetheless, such maximums are very often more than adequate for users of this type of equipment as their events are rarely any longer and their audiences never excessively large. Conversely, multiple units can, of course, achieve much higher output levels and greater coverage but at an increased cost. The concept of multiple wireless PA speakers will be addressed in a later section of this article.

Battery powered systems are mostly all-in-one solutions. They house the speaker(s) at the front, the batteries, amplifier and circuitry inside and the control panel on the back. The majority of models feature wireless 'radio' microphones to maintain the wireless operating principle of the system as a whole. Working in conjunction with the microphone receiver(s) built into the PA unit, the microphones themselves can be of the hand held, lapel or headset variety. An additional cabled microphone input is often featured too.

Additionally, for sheer convenience, many units feature integral CD players, cassette decks and even DVD players as well as MP3 recorders or players plus USB input connectivity and external memory SD card slots.

Battery powered PA systems provide the most flexible solution for indoor and outdoor events where their wireless features are definitely necessary or simply convenient.

Performance Anxiety: How To Spot The Professional Advisor - Careers - Career Management

The Surprising Differences Between Rookies And Pros Speaking Truth To Power

by Michael D. Hume, M.S.

For the past several years, it's been my privilege to observe and coach thousands of the brightest business consultants in the world. Over time, I've identified at least ten different behavioral cues advisors give that make it possible to sort the rookies from the pros.

All the advisors I've worked with have been smart, qualified, knowledgeable, experienced, and young for people with so much to offer. The overarching difference between the rookies and the pros, though, has been confidence. In short, rookies work hard to project confidence they don't feel, and pros are lazier: they feel confidence, but don't feel the need to show it. Whether the conversation with the client is face-to-face, over the phone, or in writing/cyberspace, for the rookie, it's always about himself and his performance anxiety... am I really qualified to render advice to this older, more experienced executive? For the pro, who has survived the brutal gauntlet required to reach senior consultant or partner status (and the ripe old age of about 35), it's never about her own performance, but about the client and his needs.

Homework. Rookies rush to make it clear they've done their homework. They'll make assertions, quote facts, pronounce benchmarks, tell the client what they've learned. In contrast, pros seem to be doing their homework now, in the moment, preferring to ask the client what she knows and thinks.

We, not I. When you hear someone say "We think this" or "Our Firm has concluded that," you are talking to a rookie. A pro doesn't hide behind others, seen or unseen, on the problem-solving team. A pro says "Here's what I think." Most rookies would gasp at this assertion: isn't that self-oriented? Shouldn't we clearly present ourselves as a team? Who are you, senior partner or not, to speak for all of us? The fact is, saying "I think" instead of "We think" does not preclude the fact that others on the team might have a different view - a fact the client is already aware of, and depends upon.

Surprise! The rookie is never surprised. To say "That surprises me" to the client would indicate she hasn't done her homework, thought about it, and anticipated the client's view. Clients see right through this, which is why the pro has learned that he is, and should be, frequently surprised.

I know. I've got it. Rookies are all about knowing. Pros are all about learning. Think about the surroundings of a grad-school classroom, which is where the average advisor was sitting one to six years ago. The pro is the professor, and a good one will tell you she learns more every semester than do her students. The rookies are the students, who are all about showing what they know.

Questions and answers. In a meeting with your advisors, you'll note that the rookies bring the answers. The pros bring the questions.

Sometimes wrong, but never uncertain. Rookies come across as "convinced." Pros come across as "curious." It's not that the pro doesn't have a well-thought-out point of view; he certainly has, and could probably give you a pretty good estimate of the probability that he's right. Comfortable in that, the pro has the luxury of continued curiosity about the problem, the client, the outcome, whatever.

Time costs money. Rookies will fill the time, all the time, every time. In conversation, the rookie is like a radio DJ, worried that four seconds of silence will indicate he hasn't played the record in a timely fashion, and it might get him fired. The pro knows the client needs time to think, and has not only learned to be comfortable with silence, she actually knows how to use it as a tool to get the client to think and experience the "story" in just the right way.

This is serious. Rookies are almost always dead serious. Pros smile and have fun, even when the work is hard and the problem is serious.

The interviewer. The rookie, when she does ask questions, asks them as though she's executing an interview. The questions are usually forced-choice or include a built-in answer; the client needs only to fill in the blank. The rookie advisor has already done all the thinking. And the rookie never reacts to what the client says in response to her questions; she just moves to the next question on her list. The pro never lets a conversation with a client go that way. For the pro, it's never an interview. It's true dialogue.

The winner. The rookie is clearly out to win the debate. The pro is more interested in sharing the inspiration.

If you are an advisor in any field - management consulting, wealth or investment, law, medicine, management of employees, entrepreneurship, whatever - by the time your firm puts you in front of a client you should know and accept that you are a professional. Act like one. How you come across to your clients, both verbally and non-verbally, is critical. It's not about how confident you feel, but how much confidence you can inspire in those you are leading.
