The horror! I was traveling for work, and the hotel didn't have HBO. How is that even possible? I had to catch up on on-demand.It's getting hot in the kitchen... Written by Steve Kornacki and directed by Ed Bianchi, "What Does the Bee Do?" has Nucky's tide turning. Or so we're led to believe... Some key moments:"Following a triumphant first season, I was eager to see what Terry Winter, Martin Scorsese and the rest of their stellar team had in store, and they continue to surpass our highest expectations," said Michael Lombardo, president of HBO programming. "The response from the media and our viewers has been extremely gratifying."The influence of HBO's prohibition drama Boardwalk Empire has seeped into pop culture in the form of finely tailored suits, fedoras and cocktails! Celebuzz caught up with the Emmy nominated show's sexy star Michael Pitt at Esquire's 5th Celebration Of Big Black Book with Tanqueray (DJ'ed by Mick Boogie) on Wednesday night in NYC, and the Leonardo
DiCaprio lookalike had lots to say about what the modern man can learn from the men that came before them.Jack Huston, the grandson of legendary director John Huston (and nephew to Anjelica and Danny Huston), is stealing nearly every scene of HBO's Boardwalk Empire, where he plays disfigured sniper turned hitman Richard Harrow. Jace Lacob talks to HustonThe period HBO drama was adapted from Nelson Johnson's best-selling non-fiction book "Boardwalk Empire: The Birth, High Times, and Corruption of Atlantic City." It centered on real-life criminal kingpin Enoch "Nucky" Johnson. On the show, the central character's name was changed to Enoch "Nucky" Thompson (Steve Buscemi). He portrays the Atlantic County Treasurer who rose to prominence during the Prohibition period of the '20s and '30s in Atlantic City.Facing a local liquor surplus, Jimmy Darmody and Mickey Doyle head to Philadelphia in search of buyers -- meeting up with gangster Manny Hurvitz;Last week's episode of "Boardwa
lk Empire" titled "Family Limitation" put Margaret front and center, and we saw the relationship of Nucky and Margaret taken to another level. I'm also loving the interplay between Jimmy and Al, and the personal relationship behind the two gangsters. And Agent Van Alden is certainly making a bid for the "creepiest character" on TV. Here are some of the recaps for last week. Sorry they are a bit late this week.I don't often punch out my friends and throw them in a trunk, but my friends are junkie ex-cons who need the law laid down (pretty much literally). Seems pretty plausible to me, I've heard of other community leaders in rundown neighborhoods being just as tough. The show everyone thinks they like will be back next season: HBO has renewed Boardwalk Empire for a third season just three episodes into Season 2. We can assume Season 3 will follow its predecessors and debut in September 2012. We're now three episodes into the second season of Boardwalk Empire, and so we thought
it'd be a good time to catch up with Nucky Thompson and the rest of the bootleggers, mafia thugs, corrupt politicians, and gold-hearted whores who populated the Jersey Shore of the Roaring Twenties.

Western Weight Loss Institute's-Obesity Facts and Information - Health - Weight Loss

Western Weight Loss Institute (WWLI) promotes neither a quick fix nor a diet. WWLI does introduce weight loss, wellness and fitness plans presented in a curriculum, aimed to enhance personal development, self-actualization and discovery. Discover, by both exploring and investigating your foundations, how your nutritional background and upbringing were structured, in order to explain how you see your own physical and spiritual self. The WWLI system is developed to enable clients and patients to discover their own healthy habits and lifestyles. Our number one goal at Western Weight Loss Institute is to make fitness and weight loss a strategic part of your daily life, where dieting is no longer an option. Where nutritional eating habits and positive physical activity become habit.

"Overweight" is a concept of your own perception of your own self-image. "Overweight" is a subjective term, and it's that subjectivity that leads to many eating disorders. An eating disorder is a serious illness and requires extensive medical intervention.

Are you happy with your body? Are you able to physically do all the things that you want to do? Do you fit comfortably with the clothes that you want to wear? Do you feel sexy and good when you wear them?

Body Weight and Measurements- Measurements of height and weight, and the comparison of these values using the standard charts, are the first steps in identifying obesity. These measurements produce erroneous results for most of us. Body Weight (BW) is an individual matter. BW tends to increase with age, generally, at a rate of 2 % per decade. It should also be acknowledged that weight charts are not equally relevant to people of all social-economic and ethnic groups.#

NOTORIOUS B. I. G. - Entertainment

Notorious B.I.G. went from a Brooklyn street hustler to East Coast hip-hop to a tragic victim of the culture of violence he depicted so realistically on his records. In a short lived spot, and rise to fame, an all to premature time of death almost immediately took on mythic proportions, especially since his murder followed the shooting of rival Tupac Shakur by only six months. In death, the man also known as Biggie Smalls became a symbol of the senseless violence that plagued inner-city America in the waning years of the 20th century. Whether or not his death was really the result of a much-publicized feud between the East and West Coast hip-hop scenes, it did mark the point where both sides stepped back from a inner city rivalry that had gotton too far out of hand. The Hip-hop image would never be quite the same, and neither would public perception. The aura of martyrdom that surrounds the Notorious B.I.G. sometimes threatens to overshadow his musical legacy, which was act
ually quite significant. Helped by Sean "Puffy" Combs' radio-friendly sensibility, Biggie re-established East Coast rap's viability by leading it into the post-Dr. Dre gangsta age. Where fellow East Coasters the Wu-Tang Clan slowly built an underground following, Biggie crashed onto the charts and became a star right out of the box. In the process, he helped Combs' Bad Boy label supplant Death Row as the biggest hip-hop imprint in America, and also paved the way to popular success for other East Coast talents like Jay-Z and Nas. Biggie was a gifted storyteller with a sense of humor and an eye for detail, and his narratives about the often violent life of the streets were rarely romanticized; instead, they were told with a gritty, objective realism that won him enormous respect and credibility. The general consensus in the rap community was that when his life was cut short, sadly, Biggie was just getting started. The Notorious B.I.G. was born Christopher Wallace on May 21, 19
72, and grew up in Brooklyn's Bedford-Stuyvesant neighborhood. He was interested in rap from a young age, performing with local groups like the Old Gold Brothers and the Techniques, the latter of which brought the teenaged Wallace his first trip to a recording studio. He had already adopted the name Biggie Smalls at this point, a reference to his ample frame, which would grow to be over six feet tall and nearly 400 pounds. Although he was a good student, he dropped out of high school at age 17 to live his life on the streets. Attracted by the money and flashy style of local drug dealers, he started selling crack for a living. He got busted on a trip to North Carolina and spent nine months in jail, and upon his release, he made some demo recordings on a friend's four-track. The resulting tape fell into the hands of Mister Cee, a DJ working with Big Daddy Kane; Cee in turn passed the tape on to hip-hop magazine The Source, which gave Biggie a positive write-up in a regular fea
ture on unsigned artists. Thanks to the publicity, Biggie caught the attention of Uptown Records producer Sean "Puffy" Combs, who signed him immediately. With his new daughter in need of immediate financial support, Biggie kept dealing drugs for a short time until Combs found out and laid down the law. Not long after Biggie's signing, Combs split from Uptown to form his own label, Bad Boy, and took Biggie with him.

Changing his primary stage name from Biggie Smalls to the Notorious B.I.G., the newly committed rapper made his recording debut on a 1993 remix of Mary J. Blige's single "Real Love." He soon guested on another Blige remix, "What's the 411?," and contributed his first solo cut, "Party and Bullshit," to the soundtrack of the film Who's the Man?. Now with a considerable underground buzz behind him, the Notorious B.I.G. delivered his debut album, Ready to Die, in September 1994. Its lead single, "Juicy," went gold, and the follow-up smash, "Big Poppa," achieved platinum sales and went Top Ten on the pop and R&B charts. Biggie's third single, "One More Chance," tied Michael Jackson's "Scream" for the highest debut ever on the pop charts; it entered at number five en route to an eventual peak at number two, and went all the way to number one on the R&B side. By the time the dust settled, Ready to Die had sold over four million copies and turned the Notorious B.I.G. into a hip-ho
p sensation -- the first major star the East Coast had produced since the rise of Dr. Dre's West Coast G-funk. Music download here:/

Not long after Ready to Die was released, Biggie married R&B singer and Bad Boy labelmate Faith Evans. In November 1994, West Coast gangsta star Tupac Shakur was shot several times in the lobby of a New York recording studio and robbed of thousands of dollars in jewelry. Shakur survived and accused Combs and his onetime friend Biggie of planning the attack, a charge both of them fervently denied. The ill will gradually snowballed into a heated rivalry between West and East Coast camps, with upstart Bad Boy now challenging Suge Knight's Death Row empire for hip-hop supremacy. Meanwhile, Biggie turned his energies elsewhere. He shepherded the career of Junior M.A.F.I.A., a group consisting of some of his childhood rap partners, and guested on their singles "Player's Anthem" and "Get Money." He also boosted several singles by his labelmates, such as Total's "Can't You See" and 112's "Only You," and worked with superstars like Michael Jackson (HIStory) and R. Kelly ("[You to B
e] Happy," from R. Kelly). With the singles from Ready to Die still burning up the airwaves as well, Biggie ended 1995 as not only the top-selling rap artist, but also the biggest solo male act on both the pop and R&B charts. He also ran into trouble with the law on more than one occasion. A concert promoter accused Biggie and members of his entourage of assaulting him when he refused to pay the promised fee after a concert cancellation. Later in the year, Biggie pled guilty to criminal mischief after attacking two harassing autograph seekers with a baseball bat.

1996 proved to be an even more tumultuous year. More legal problems ensued after police found marijuana and weapons in a raid on Biggie's home in Teaneck, NJ. Meanwhile, Junior M.A.F.I.A. member Lil' Kim released her first solo album under Biggie's direction, and the two made little effort to disguise their concurrent love affair. 2Pac, still nursing a grudge against Biggie and Combs, recorded a vicious slam on the East Coast scene called "Hit 'Em Up," in which he taunted Biggie about having slept with Faith Evans (who was by now estranged from her husband). What was more, during the recording sessions for Biggie's second album, he suffered rather serious injuries in a car accident and was confined to a wheelchair for a time. Finally, in September 1996, Tupac Shakur was murdered in a drive-by shooting on the Las Vegas strip. Given their very public feud, it didn't take long for rumors of Biggie's involvement to start swirling, although none were substantiated. Biggie was a
lso criticized for not attending an anti-violence hip-hop summit held in Harlem in the wake of Shakur's death.

Observers hoped that Shakur's murder would serve as a wake-up call for gangsta rap in general, that on-record boasting had gotten out of hand and spilled into reality. Sadly, it would take another tragedy to drive that point home. In the early morning hours of March 9, 1997, the Notorious B.I.G. was leaving a party at the Petersen Automotive Museum in Los Angeles, thrown by Vibe magazine in celebration of the Soul Train Music Awards. He sat in the passenger side of his SUV, with his bodyguard in the driver's seat and Junior M.A.F.I.A. member Lil' Cease in the back. According to most witnesses, another vehicle pulled up on the right side of the SUV while it was stopped at a red light, and 6-10 shots were fired. Biggie's bodyguard rushed him to the nearby Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, but it was already too late. As much as Shakur was mourned, Biggie's death was perhaps even more shocking; it meant that Shakur's death was not an isolated incident, and that hip-hop's highest-p
rofile talents might be caught in the middle of an escalating war. Naturally, speculation ran rampant that Biggie's killers were retaliating for Shakur's death, and since the case remains unsolved, the world may never know for sure.

In the aftermath of the tragedy, the release of the Notorious B.I.G.'s second album went ahead as planned at the end of March. The eerily titled Life After Death was a sprawling, guest-laden double-disc set that seemed designed to compete with 2Pac's All Eyez on Me in terms of ambition and epic scope. Unsurprisingly, it entered the charts at number one, selling nearly 700,000 copies in its first week of release and spending a total of four weeks on top. The first single, "Hypnotize," went platinum and hit number one on the pop charts, and its follow-up, "Mo Money Mo Problems," duplicated both feats, making the Notorious B.I.G. the first artist ever to score two posthumous number one hits. A third single, "Sky's the Limit," went gold, and Life After Death was certified ten times platinum approximately two years after its release. Plus, Combs -- now rechristened Puff Daddy -- and Faith Evans scored one of 1997's biggest singles with their tribute, "I'll Be Missing You." In 1
999, an album of previously unreleased B.I.G. material, Born Again, was released and entered the charts at number one. It eventually went double platinum. Six years later, Duets: The Final Chapter (studio scraps paired with new verses from several MCs and vocalists) surfaced and reached number three on the album chart. Download Music here:/

In the years following Christopher Wallace's death, little official progress was made in the LAPD's murder investigation, and it began to look as if the responsible parties would never be brought to justice. The 2Pac retaliation theory still holds sway in many quarters, and it has also been speculated that members of the Crips gang murdered Wallace in a dispute over money owed for security services. In an article for Rolling Stone, and later a full book titled Labyrinth, journalist Randall Sullivan argued that Suge Knight hired onetime LAPD officer David Mack -- a convicted bank robber with ties to the Bloods -- to arrange a hit on Wallace, and that the gunman was a hitman and mortgage broker named Amir Muhammad. Sullivan further argued that when it became clear how many corrupt LAPD officers were involved with Death Row Records, the department hushed up as much as it could and all but abandoned detective Russell Poole's investigation recommendations. Documentary filmmaker
Nick Broomfield used Labyrinth as a basis for 2002's Biggie and Tupac, which featured interviews with Poole and Knight, among others. In April 2002, Faith Evans and Voletta Wallace (Biggie's mother) filed a civil suit against the LAPD alleging wrongful death, among other charges. In September of that year, the L.A. Times published a report alleging that the Notorious B.I.G. had paid members of the Crips one million dollars to murder 2Pac, and even supplied the gun used. Several of Biggie's relatives and friends stepped forward to say that the rapper had been recording in New Jersey, not masterminding a hit in Las Vegas; the report was also roundly criticized in the hip-hop. His records still are tops in the music ratings today. Down load here:/

Iraqi Wedding Traditions - Relationships - Marriage

Every wedding starts with the engagement, the guy see a girl, then if they like each other, he asks for her hand (in other words to get marry), she might be a relative, neighbor, cousin, they might be work mates, or students in the same collage etc. First he goes with his parents to hers, and tells them his desire to ask their daughter to get marry, (if the girl's father is dead, he should go to her eldest uncle).

The parents ask about the guy whether he is good, polite, co-operative, etc, in his work place or his collage, and they also ask about his family reputation.

Then after the agreement there is a tradition we call " Mashaya" in which the men ( specially the most solemn men) from both families get the chance to meet each other, to get the good impression about each other, you see the lineage of the family is very important here..

When the girl says "Yes", they buy the engagement rings, a golden one for the girl and a silvery or platinum one for the guy.

Then the engagement party (Khitooba) is the coming step, in this party the girl and the guy's close family members are usually invited, (the parents, sisters, brothers, uncles, aunts and cousins). In this party they wear the rings, the fiance also bring a golden gift to his fiancee, dinner will be served, music as DJ or a band is very important to celebrate this important event.

During the engagement time they begin to know each other more and more, and of course, they start shopping for their new house. In these days, as the life is very expensive, it is not easy for the young men to buy a house, that is why they may live in his parents' house, they may build an apartment in the garden or as a second floor apartment.

Shopping includes buying clothes, jewelries, make-up stuffs, perfumes, the wedding "Nishan" and "Laylit al henna" party's dresses, they also look for house's necessities & furnishers ).

After that there is another party called " Nishan ", where the traditions are so much fun.

Anyway, the bride wear many dresses ( long time ago in Mosul the bride used to wear 7 dresses, but now they wear 3-5 depend on their financial condition, I didn't know that till my friend talked about her sister's Nishan and how they follow the old traditions and bought seven dresses, red, blue, off-white, black, yellow, and purple I don't know what is the seventh colour ), both families and the fiance adduce golden jewels to the bride, now days the life become more expensive that's why some bride's family comprehend the groom's financial condition, and not incommode him to bring much, only few grams, but there are still some families ask for very much gold, specially the Kurds, who adduce kilos of gold to the bride!!.

As they may make a heavy golden belt to her.

Nishan is like all the parties, there is music, dancing, then dinner, my mom's Nishan started at 10 pm till 2 am!! But now because of the stroll bans and the very bad situation, the Nishan party starts at 3 pm till 6!!!! In spite of the very hot weather, it's SUMMER for god sake.

What can people do?

My relative "Noor" want to have her Nishan party in a celebration arena, because their house is too small, but they can't, it is not safe. My grandma told her that she is welcome to have her party in our large garden.

(Two years ago, we had Nishan party for my dad's cousin in our garden, I was the DG girl, I have many music CDs and it was a beautiful Nishan party).

Anyway after Nishan or before it there is al-Qiran, it is the lawful wedding.

In Qiran, the judge joins the two bridegrooms to be a husband and wife.

After the Qiran union, the new couple allocates candies in special cups to everybody they know, neighbors, relatives, friends, colleagues etc, to inform them about their union.

A night before the wedding day, there is "Lailat Al-henna" party in this day; one of their relatives put the privet in the newlywed's pinkie or palm. Some relatives may like to have privet in their hands too.

The bride's mother, aunt, or anyone close prepare the Henna's salver, they put green plant we call it" ace ", it really smells good, henna (means the privet), and some candles, I love the salver's view. (The Shiite has different tradition in Qiran and lailat al henna, they put the seven whites, I wrote a post about that once).

Lilat al Henna is a small party, just like the engagement party, just for the new couple, their parents, brothers and sisters, close friends and some time uncles and aunts.

After the Lailit al Henna the Wedding day comes (finally, huh? ), it is just like yours, the bride wear her white dress, and the groom his new suit.they either bring a real band or DJ.the two couples dance as well as their friends and relatives, they make Dabka( special dance in my country), then cake ceremony comes next, and in most of the weddings the bride get jewelries from her family, her husband and his family and from some close friends. Then dinner is served too.

After that the honey-moon starts, as there are no hotels in the last three years, they spend their honey moon in their apartment, or if they have money they go to the north or our side Iraq.

There is another party after the wedding called the Fourth-day (Arb3t Ayam) in Mosul, and the seven-days (Sab3t Ayam) in Baghdad, it is not necessarily after four days nor seven days, some times they make it after two weeks or a month.

In this party the bride dress her wedding dress and many other new dresses or her Nishan dresses, in this party, the guests bring the gifts.

Alexander McQueen, International Networking, and Women's Shoes: Meet Luiz Tuazon! - Web 2.0 - Blogs

Our BizzView '08 circuit is really a quest into the hearts, minds and everyday lives of real business people in the year 2008. When we first announced the weekly segment to our blog I immediately contacted today's guest realizing how his great insight would benefit the community. Luiz Tuazon is his name. Luiz is a photographer and an artist, he's also a marketing guru and genuine entrepreneur. In my opinion, he's a realized living legend who percieves life from the greatest angles. Luiz knows more people around the globe than anyone I've ever met. Why Luiz? He's one of the most authentic and magnetic people you'll ever meet contributing to his success especially when it comes to networking. Well, here it is, uncut and hot off the press with Luiz Tuazon...

BF: Luiz, please tell us a little about yourself, your background and current projects.

Luiz: I grew up in southern California and graduated from UCSD in 2003 with a degree in International relations. For the past few years, I've been working with a line of fashion for women's shoes called Naughty Monkey. Naughty Monkey shoes can be found in better boutiques and Nordstrom nationwide. I'm also currently working on a few [top secret] projects that will be launched in 2008, so I will keep you posted on the happenings. I'm motivated by my loving family and friends and I'm passionate about culture, travel, nature, the arts, and living for the joy of moment.

BF: What is your take on what we understand as "career"?

Luiz: The American thinking of a career is most generally measured upon the amount of money you make and the set of corporate benefits you're given. A career is thought to be glamorous and is associated with a step up in the social ladder. First and foremost, a career should not feel like a job. You live a career and work a job. I have respect for those who have had the same job/career for a number of years, but I also have the same respect for people who have had multiple careers in the same amount of time. For example, Iceland is home to some of the happiest people in the world. I read an interview about a hipster yuppie living in the capital city of Reykjavik. At the age of 37 he had already worked as a graphic designer, professor of literature, real estate developer, a professional backgammon player, and is now DJ producing dance music for his own independent record label. These resumes are common in Iceland as it is encouraged to try new things in the pursuit of self-
fulfillment without the stigma of failure. If this thinking works in a country of only 300K people, there is no reason that this can't be applied to our land of opportunity. Also, consider that this idea of the modern day career is a luxury and opportunity that one creates for himself. A career does not have to be the highest paying or prestigious situation, but it must be a rewarding endeavour of choice.

BF: Do you travel often for business? What are the best/worst parts about it?

Luiz: I travel constantly for business. As of today, I've been home about a dozen nights this year. The best parts of travel is that I am able to be in tune with the business and have a broad range of reactions and feedback. In fashion, not everything works everywhere so it is important to know how product is being received in multiple environments so you understand what product to place in certain areas. The parts of travel I can do without, is being away from home, family and friends. I especially do not like missing out on special occasions and random milestones that cannot be enjoyed second-hand. As much as I travel, I do love the comforts of home. On the other hand, the parts I enjoy most about travel are the excitement of being in a new place and all the possibilities which that presents. I've had some of the most memorable experiences and have met so many incredible people while traveling for business.

BF: Who are your role models and why?

Luiz: My parents, brother, and sister are tops followed by my closest circle of friends. I thank them all for their love, support, guidance, patience, and for the joy they provide. Outside people I personally know, I admire individuals who are independently successful and creators of their own destiny. I also admire dreamers and people who strive to add positivity in the lives of others. Some of these admired individuals currently living their work include Sir Ranulph Fiennes(adventurer/author), Philip Knight (founder of Nike), Matthew Barney (artist), Alexander McQueen (designer), Magic Johnson (NBA legend/entrepreneur), Anthony Bourdain (chef), and Wes Andersen (film maker).

BF: Recently, what's been playing most frequently on your IPOD?

Luiz: Music is truly the soundtrack to my life. The songs and melodies I listen too, are dependent on my location and mood and add to the atmosphere of each moment. There are too many to list, but most recently I've been listening to Gotan Project, Mason Jennings, Ibrahim Ferrer, Cut Copy and the soundtrack to the movie "Once".

BF: What advice would you give to someone just graduating from college about to enter the "real world"?

Luiz: It is a must that you identify the most important things in your life and everything enjoyable to you, and make that the foundation of your career. Growing up, all I wanted to be was an foreign Ambassador or Diplomat. Throughout college, my studies were centered around gaining knowledge and tools that would lead to this goal that I had set for myself. I graduated and moved to Washington DC to purse this goal, but after living the lifestyle in the actual environment, I learned that it was not the life for me. The night of this realization was sleepless. I had spent years working towards a goal that was not something that I truly wanted. Then I understood that knowing this now is better than realizing this years down the road, trapped neck deep in a position that I never wanted. Anxiety turned to excitement because the world was now limitless. Though I didn't know exactly what I wanted to do, I knew exactly what I didn't want to do. Sometimes this is just as useful as
knowing what you want to do. So I left it all and traveled for a year to clear the head and refocus. I found an opportunity to experience that fashion industry and have been working in it for the past three years.I have always had a deep appreciation for style and fashion so my work is a part of my personality that I've been exploring professionally. At the end of the day, you must know that the day was not wasted chasing someone else's dreams, or you will never have a good night's rest.

BF: What are some tips you could give on building networks?

Luiz: I've been told by many people that I am gifted at this, but I can never accept that as a compliment or really explain why and how. It really is a topic that I feel uncomfortable with because I do not view networking as a skill that I've worked to gain. Amongst my personal and professional circles, I've become a source for any random thing they need help with. I do admit that I do know a large number of diverse people, but that has happened organically. It is part of my personality to connect with many different people. I never meet someone and expect that they can miraculously hold a key to the rest of the world and then plot to steal that key. My personal and professional relationships are all based on a certain level of mutual respect and trust. People can really see through those hyper-aggressive individuals who are opportunistic users, and avoid them. With all that being said, here are some tips to build your network:

1) You will attract and come across people than can help you professionally in all sorts of settings, just be sincere and honest in your communication and your network will grow accordingly.

2) When you do meet someone that you would like to keep in touch with, do so. Walk the walk. People loose respect for you when you say you'll keep in touch, or are requested to do so, and you do not.

3) Never offer things that you cannot deliver.

4) You have only 50% control of your reputation. I say 50% because judgments and perceptions are made by individuals through what they hear and observe. At times, these may not be the most accurate interpretations of you. Be aware.

BF: How do you personally keep in contact with everyone all around the world? Tips?

Luiz: Keeping in touch with friends should be a pleasure and never a chore. Think of the closest people to you and figure out why you keep in touch with them and apply this to everyone you want to stay connected with. There should be a feeling of shamelessness in each and every one of these relationships. I take the feeling from the last conversation in that little cafe or from that heart wrenching goodbye at the airport and hold on to it until the next time we meet. During a conversation or even when writing an email, I give each person all of my attention and communicate without haste. Distance is no obstacle, it may actually strengthen a relationship. I have friends in different parts of the world whom I make plans with regularly as if we were living on the same block, it just takes a bit more planning and energy. Most importantly, is that I stay true to my word at all times and am open with everyone. Honor and integrity are qualities that endure in friendships.

I want to extend a huge thanks to Luiz for taking time out of his busy schedule to share some of his natural entrepreneurship savyness. Just in case he's not already one of your top friends on Facebook, feel free to contact Luiz at

Promote Your Band With Fun Promotional Products - Advertising

Your band may have started out as a fun thing, but if you want your music making to be more than a hobby, promotion will become a part of your life. Promotional products and business gifts can give your band a leg up on the competition and help boost your band's bookings and music sales off the charts.

More and more bands are taking their marketing into their own hands these days - and that means knowing a little bit about how to design promotions, choose promotional products and business gifts and create a long-range marketing plan. Here are a few of the ways that you can use promotional products as part of marketing your band and earning money doing what you love.

Leaflets and flyers are promotional products. Many companies that specialize in promotional products employ professional design departments that can help you create outstanding flyers, leaflets and promotional postcards that you can use to publicize your band, concerts and bookings. Hand out promotional postcards before concerts and offer a discount at the door for admission to anyone handing one in.

Use promotional products to create additional income streams.Put your band on a t-shirt, visor, cap or promotional mugs and sell them at concerts and appearances, as well as offering them from your band's myspace or web page. You get double benefits when you sell promotional items, especially those that "travel" with their buyers. First, you get income from the sales. Second, and perhaps more importantly, you get more exposure - of the most valuable kind. When fans wear or carry promotional products and advertising gifts with your band's name, logo or photos on them, they'll be telling others that they LIKE your music and publicizing it. Fan recommendations are the highest form of praise - and the most effective type of publicity you can get.

Order promotional products for special events and parties.Attending a battle of the bands or holding a release party for a new CD? You'll need banners, paper products and promotional giveaways for the fans that attend. Fun and celebration go hand in hand with promotional products - balloons, Frisbees, bracelets and other fun toys can be imprinted with your band name and/or logo and go home with your fans. Add in t-shirts for attendees and every person who wears one will be publicizing your band or event.

Hand out promotional products for other giveaways.Radio station play can make or break a band - and radio DJs are always looking for novel and interesting ways to engage their listeners. You can garner extra publicity by handing over a dozen printed mugs, promotional pens or t-shirts to radio stations for them to use as prizes in trivia contests and the like. Again, you'll get double exposure - first you get the radio exposure, then you get the visibility when your promo products are used by their recipients.

There are many ideas for unique promotions and publicity events that you can use with promotional products to publicize your band. For more ideas, contact a sales representative for a company that specializes in promotional products.

For further information on corporate business gifts, items and custom printed advertising marketing products why not visit the market leading online suppliers today. Top online promotional gifts suppliers can provide a fast and efficient service and more often than not can provide highly competitive quotations with the hour unlike the traditional offline promotional products companies.
