Want to become a DJ? Part 2 - Entertainment

<p>Hello there guys and welcome back to the second instalment of our Superstar DJ in training guide. As stated in the last edition, we'll be giving you info on where to go to find the contact info of promoters both nation and worldwide, tips on how to handle rejection, and resources that will teach you DJ skills and techniques so without further ado, let's get started!Resources for DJ skillsLoosely put, you're gonna need to make sure that your abilities are as maxed out as possible if you hope to quickly progress in this field. For an essential resource that will help teach you all the necessary skills and techniques to wow people on the decks.Getting the contact info of promoters worldwideIf you're serious about your craft as a DJ then you should be willing to play absolutely anywhere that'll have you and this will often mean playing outside of your home town and dare I even say it country. Obviously, if you live in Birmingham, you're rarely gonna find flyers for club nights
in London and vice versa so the trick here is to go online for your club promoter information. If you visit Dontstayin and do a country, then town search, you will be taken to a page with info on the entire dance music club nights taking place in that town in whichever month you want to look at.Party listings are also categorized by genre which makes it easier for you to find the club nights that synch with your preferred genre of mixing. Now, once you've found a few events that take your fancy it's merely a simple matter of contacting the promoters involved. This is much easier than you think as every night featured will either have the promoter's info readily available or an online flyer uploaded which you can scan for contact info. After you've grabbed some contact email addresses and numbers, email/call till your heart's content and be sure to give those promoters links to your online mixes!!Handling Rejection I'm sorry to say this but rejection is gonna be something th
at you'll have to deal with repeatedly before you hit it as a DJ and you've got to learn to not let it get you down. You see, even assuming that your mixing skills are perfect, your sets pure works of art and that you have all of the ingredients to become the next Tiesto or Carl Cox, you're still gonna find it hard to get gigs initially and here's why:Number 1, the vast majority of clubs you approach won't be looking for any new DJs. Number 2, most people are scared to try something new and prefer to go with what they know.Number 3, not everybody is going to appreciate your musical style.Number 4, none of it's personal! These people aren't God and there are promoters and clubbers who'll love you and your style of mixingYou're gonna have to press and press consistently to get your name out there but don't be discouraged, with hard work comes the rewards you seek and every big name DJ you can name has once been in the very same position that you're in right now! Now that's it
for this month, folks, be sure to look out for the next edition!
