When Should I Book a Wedding DJ For My Reception - Relationships - Weddings

When the wedding is being planned the couple will want the best of everything and unfortunately if the plans are not made well in advance there is a fair chance that all they will be left with is second rate everything.

Halls will be booked up early and trying to get the church you want a few weeks before the wedding is going to prove to be very difficult. In the same way booking too far in advance can also bring its own problems. A couple of years is a long time for people to book ahead and if you ask the DJ to save that weekend they may want a deposit even though the date is so far off. Within a year or so they may decide to have a different career so unless you want to be phoning them every few months to check they are still OK for the day then it will be best to leave it until a little nearer to the time.

Once the majority of the ideas are in place it will be time to then consider who to hire as a DJ. Knowing when to book a wedding DJ is not rocket science but there does need to be a lot of common sense involved. If you are leaving it a few months before the big day it is very likely that all of the good ones will have been booked up. Often they will only want to do one reception a week so even if your wedding is not on a Saturday they may not be in a position to do an extra event.

If you don't get the wedding DJ booking right there could be a hefty bill to pay. The price could shoot up dramatically of they know you are desperate and you could pay way over the odds or end up with someone you would never have booked if you were not desperate. The ideal time to book will be around 6-12 months before the reception. This give plenty of time to meet with the DJ and tell them what is required and get an idea of whether you think they are right or not. While it may not be too polite ask them a few questions about song library and see if they have a good knowledge of music.

It will also be a good idea to see if the reception location provides any equipment. If the DJ has less carrying and messing around there may be a little knocked off the bill. The location of the event may also mean that there will be a limit to how loud the music can be so check that the wedding reception DJ has a limiter fitted or can fit one.

Finally remember that the decisions are all yours. The DJ may give tips about the most popular first dances and what normally gets the dance floor full but if you don't like the sound of it let them know and insist on certain things.

What's the Duties of a Wedding Planner - Relationships - Weddings

A wedding planner's job may sound fun, but it is one hell of a task. It requires not just your valued resources to make the bride and groom happy, but your time and efficiency. Things cannot be done in your own sweet time, where deadlines have to be met and follow-ups have to be consistent and executed as scheduled. It is up to the bride and groom what part of your services they want. Do they wish to have you plan the entire wedding depending on how the tradition unfolds? Some cultures have an elaborate sequence of events that unravel as part of their wedding. Christians do not have multiple ceremonies, but it is still wise to sit down with the couple and discuss how much of you is needed nonetheless. Let's take a look at what are the duties of a wedding planner before you take this on.

Important Duties of a Wedding Planner

Like I said, depending on the traditions that each culture meets as part of their wedding, it is critical to first speak to the couple and understand what is involved, or only provide your services to certain cultures. It can be an exhausting task to understand all cultures and be an overall wedding planner, so catering to specific kinds would seem ideal. If you of course want to cover all kinds of weddings, then past knowledge and in-depth research is required. Let's take a look at what you need to do from start to finish.Take Notes and Invest in a Recorder

Meet with the couple in person and have them lay out all details and intricacies that you need to know, on the table. Make a note of important things they say, and keep a recorder handy to make sure you get everything. When taking notes highlight points like what part of the wedding needs to be researched on extensively. Non-Christian weddings can have a completely different approach to wedding ceremonies and the days that lead up to the main day. Don't be afraid to ask questions because as a wedding planner you are entitled to.Planning the Budget

The most important part of the entire affair, is the budget. Once everything is discussed and finalized, find out how much the couple is willing to spend so that you know how to handle their expenses without going overboard. That way it would be easier to know which flower shops have reasonably priced flowers, which halls for the receptions would fit their budget criteria, and if it would be better to go with a catering company or with a hotel that provides catering if you book their hall. Stick to the budget and break it down so that you know how much you need to spend on what. If you think that the budget is too less and needs to be a tad higher, don't hesitate to suggest something to the couple that wouldn't overshoot their budget to a great extent. Make sure that you mention as part of your services, that you need to be contacted at least six months before the big day, because booking things in advance is financially wiser than booking closer to the wedding date. In ot
her words, the later you book for reception halls / open spaces and other things that need to be arranged, the more expensive it becomes.Hiring an Assistant

You can't possibly be in two places at the same time, that is why it is important to have a helping hand when planning a wedding. An assistant can be given jobs like researching on hotels, reception halls and open-air venues to find something idyllic for the couple, including flower shops, decoration-providing companies, catering companies, wedding cake designers, wedding dress stores, (if the bride needs help to find a place to buy her dress) and so on. After you've assigned him/her these jobs you can then both visit different venues separately and evaluate each one based on the couple's criteria, after comparing notes. Take the bride a long with you wherever important choices need to be made like her theme colors for the reception, the bridesmaids dresses, the groomsmen suits, the wedding cake design, the flowers she'd like on display and so on.Sending Out the Wedding Invitations

Give the couple a chance to choose what their wedding invitations should look like by providing them with varied options that they can browse through before making a final decision. The cards should be sent out four-five months before the wedding date, so that invitees have a chance to RSVP and of course plan their departure if not in the same country/state, to make it for the wedding.Booking the Entertainment

Some couples may want more than just a band or renowned DJ to play at their wedding, so find out if they want a wacky entertainment slot in between the reception, or if something special should play out secretly from either party, or both. Booking the band / DJ / miscellaneous act well in advance would be ideal, to have it stick within the couples' budget.Choosing an MC (Master of Ceremony)

Someone needs to be booked who can guide the entire event from when it begins to when it ends. Have the couple meet a series of MCs who are well worth their needs, who can pull off a fun, well-scripted event without fumbling up or proving to be an amateur at what he/she does. Have them meet with the best there is in the MC business, by first interviewing them yourself before you present them to the couple. Once a choice has been made, the MC can then take over to help the couple decide of how the entire reception unfolds. That part is not important to you unless the MC needs you to arrange for anything in particular that may need your services.Time is Of the Essence

Not every company is efficient in giving you what you want in the said frame of time, so it is important to constantly follow up on what is happening. It is key to have everything in order so that no mishaps or blunders take place close to the wedding day. Also make sure that the bridesmaids (in the case of a Christian wedding) have gone for multiple fittings, and that they are happy with the way the dress turns out. Follow up with the groom if his groomsmen have finalized their suits. The bride's dress has to be flawless at least two weeks before the wedding, so that any changes that need to be done can be handled within this time gap. Seamstresses or stores that sell wedding dresses need advance bookings, so make sure that this is the first thing on your list post booking the venue for the wedding.Tasting of the Food

Invite the couple to the places that you'll be taste testing at. They should be happy with the buffet even if it means trying a ton of dishes. Have the testing sessions spread over the course of a week or even a few days before they make up their minds on which caterer suits their tastes best. Also remember to ask the couple if any foods are kosher as part of their culture/religion, so that you do not make a mistake when taking them to test out food.Final Day Preparations

On the wedding day you'll need to check up on everything right from if the venue is arranged perfectly where the vows will exchanged, to the transportation that will bring both parties to the venue. You'll need to make an appearance at the bride's and groom's places respectively to see if there is anything that they need at the last minute.

It takes time and patience to plan a wedding, but when you see the fruits of your labor take form, it is a sight for sore eyes. Keeping the above pointers in mind, you'll have no trouble in coordinating the details that need to be overseen as part of the wedding.Read more about Wedding Invites

Planning a wedding is a fun and stressful time of your life. You want everything to come off as perfect and every aspect of the wedding to be special, not only for yourself but for all those who are able to make it to the ceremony.
Of course, possibly the most important aspect of finding the perfect wedding bands or singers is how they sound. No matter what the price of the band is or how many songs they know, if they just don't sound good there really isn't a point in hiring them. Make sure to check them perform live before you go out and book them for your wedding. Although you might not be able to stop by while they are performing for a different wedding, most wedding bands play other live gigs which are open to the public. Stop by and listen for a few songs to see if the band is right for you. Never hire a band without hearing the act play live, as otherwise you might be rather surprised when the act starts your reception.

Photograph A Wedding Reception - Shopping - Clothing

In this article I offer tips and suggestions as how to photograph a wedding reception and achieve professional looking results. Make sure to get a variety of shots. This may seem like a no brainer but so much goes on at the reception. In addition, a lot planning has gone into making the reception a reality. So plan to record everything from the smallest detail, to an overview of the entire reception.Table centerpieces, guest seating cards, guest favors, the buffet, the cake table, from behind the cake table, showing off the reception room, the guest book table, any other decorations, the entry way to the reception, and various overviews of the entire room. Then of course you have all the possible bride and groom photos: talking, laughing, hugging their guests, showing off the rings, sitting at the head table (try some shots from behind when they lean over to talk to each other or a close up of the bride's hand on her groom's shoulder, etc.), cutting the cake and feeding it
to each other, dancing, garter & bouquet toss, the farewell. As you can see there are lots of important shots. As soon as I'm able, I like to check in with the reception DJ. There are several reasons for this. One, they typically have the time line for the reception. I'll take a look to see if all the important events will be occurring within the couple's package time. If not, I know that I may need to touch base with the bride to see if she wants me to stay longer. In some cases, the DJ can nudge the time line a little if he knows we need to get certain things taken care of by a specified time. Two, the DJ, just like the florist, caterer, or planner is another wedding vendor to connect with. Some of my best referrals come from other wedding vendors - even fellow photographers. Network with these people - they can be gold to your business. It's also a pleasure to return the favor and refer one of your couples to your favorite DJ.I love outdoor wedding receptions - you typical
ly have an abundance of light, more room to move around and the settings tend to be beautiful - country clubs, vineyards, and garden weddings! However, as the light tends to fade, there is potential to run into trouble. Let's go over a few tips to help make your outdoor wedding reception run smoothly. The beginning of the reception typically consists of the bride and groom mingling with their guests, either during a cocktail hour or after they eat. This is a great opportunity for some wonderful images - hugging their guests, showing off the ring, talking and laughing. But you don't want to be too close - it's not a group hug after all. One, the larger the aperture, the more light comes into the lens meaning you can work with less light as it gets darker. Two, the larger the aperture, the less depth of field you have. If you look at a photograph where everything is in focus, the eye tends to bounce around, not knowing where to land. When you look at an image with a short dept
h of field, your subject stands out and the background is slightly out of focus. Your eye immediately goes to the subject. When considering how to photograph a wedding reception, keep in mind these simple yet effective tips. There are so many wonderful moments at a wedding reception. Try to capture as many as you can.

How To Ensure Your Wedding Is A Success - Relationships - Weddings

Your wedding day will hopefully be one of the best days of your life, but the actual process of planning it can be very stressful. There are so many things to bear in mind and so many areas where something might go wrong so you have to plan extremely carefully. The best thing to do is to make a list of every factor you need to cover, and bring in outside help if you feel you are struggling. Here are some things you can do to make sure your day goes as smoothly as possible: Plan Carefully: First of all, work out exactly how much you have to spend and decide how much of this you want to allot to flowers, catering, entertainment and so on. If parents are helping you out with costs you need to know in advance how much they are prepared to give you and how much you will be paying for yourself. You don't want to get halfway through planning and find out you are in over your head financially. Think about what kind of venue you would like and what food you want to serve.

Choose The Right Entertainment: The entertainment you choose for your wedding reception is crucial because it provides a great deal of the atmosphere, and you want your guests to have a good time. Do you go for a DJ, or a wedding singer - or do you splash out by looking at live wedding bands? Your decision will be based partly on the type of people who will be at your wedding and partly on your personal preferences. DJs are cheaper, easier and take up less room, but live wedding bands can offer a more dynamic, personal and exciting kind of entertainment.

Book Early: When you have decided on things such as your reception venue or the entertainment you want then you need to book them up as early as possible to ensure somebody else doesn't hire them on that day. So many people get their heart set on a certain thing, only to be disappointed when they find out they can't secure it on the day they have chosen.

Don't Have The Ceremony Too Early: The atmosphere of some weddings can be spoiled if you have the wedding ceremony too early. This means your guests either have to hang around until the party in the evening, getting tired and bored, or you have to pay for the reception venue for a lot longer and potentially provide two meals as well. If you want a lively evening reception then try to have your ceremony as late in the afternoon as possible so your guests are still in the right mood for the party.

Hire A Wedding Planner: Of course, if you have the budget for it and all the above is just getting too stressful for you then you could hire a wedding planner to organise your big day. This can be expensive but it does at least have the merit of allowing you to sit back and enjoy your wedding without worrying about what could go wrong.

These werelocal business owners, professionals, and workers who hadinteresting information the radio audience would find helpful.Guests usually aren't allowed to turn their on-air appearancesinto self-serving ads (that's what paid commercials are for), butno guests leaves without grabbing a considerable amount ofpromotional be

Wedding Music Tips: How To Choose The Best Wedding Music - Relationships - Marriage

So you've exchanged vows, and have said your 'I do's, now it's time to head out to the reception and party like you've never partied before. If you want live music playing in your reception, then you would want to hire a live band. But first, you must check with people that rent the venue where you're going to hold your reception, to see what type of live music they allow. Some venues have stringent restrictions when it comes to live music.

The type of music that you choose to play in your wedding should be an expression of both the bride and groom's personality, personal taste, and the overall theme of the wedding.

It's very important to select the right music, because the music will become a pervading presence all through out the wedding, and right down to the reception. Music creates an atmosphere. It will set the mood of your wedding.

During the wedding itself, the choice of music usually depends on the wedding. Most church ceremonies don't allow secular music. They stick to more traditional, or religious music. A man and a woman duet is usually sung during the ceremony. A church organist usually provides the majority of the music.

For the reception, the bride and groom has a choice of recorded music, or live music. If you opt for recorded music, it would be best to hire the services of a DJ. The best thing about this, is you can request to have all of your favorite songs in the playlist. Ask your friends if they know any good DJs that are willing to play for wedding receptions. If they don't know any, you could always just search the yellow pages, internet, or even contact your local radio station.

Once you've settled on a DJ, have a one-on-one discussion with the DJ. Just to explain what type of entertainment and mood you want to have during the reception. Also discuss, the selection of music that you have in mind. Ask if the DJ's familiar with wedding protocol. If not, you might want to brief the DJ first about the sensibility of the event.

On the other hand, choosing live music offers you a choice of hiring a band, soloist, instrumentalists, jazz group, etc. It all depends on what kind of theme you have in mind for you wedding.

For more formal weddings, classical groups, piano soloists, and instrumentalists are more appropriate. It would not be a bad idea, to also consider the sensibilities of your guests, to ensure that everyone has a good time!

If you want to have a rocking good time for the reception of your wedding, then hiring a band is the way to go! The energy of a live band gets people going. There's nothing else that spells a rocking good time better, than a rock and roll band.

Before hiring a band, ask them if you could listen to their music first. This will help you decide if that particular band is just right for you. Also discuss, if the band will do emcee duties, as well as provide the music.

It's best to hire a band that has had previous experience with wedding receptions. This way, they'd know what to expect, and will be able to provide the proper entertainment that's fitting for the occasion.

You always want to keep the music going, so include some background music even when the meals are being served, or when the bride and groom are doing their rounds of greeting, having their pictures taken, etc. This will also maintenance the atmosphere of the wedding all through out the reception. So choose wisely, because your choice of music can make or break this occasion!

How to Spice Up Rite of Passage Parties - Entertainment

A rite of passage such as a bar mitzvah or a bat mitzvah, marks when a person reaches a certain time in his or her life when a significant change is taking place. Many cultures and religions have rite of passage occasions to celebrate a person's passage into a new and/or different stage of their lives. These rites of passage can include bar mitzvahs, bat mitzvah, graduations, birthdays, and more. These occasions are usually celebrated with large parties.

The single more important thing you can do to spice up your right of passage party is to hire the right entertainment. Since this is your son or daughter's party, let them choose the type of music. Ask them if they would like to have a DJ or a live band. Ask them if they would like a light show. Once you know what kind of music and light show your son or daughter would like, you can search for the DJ or entertainer. Ask friends and family members for recommendations. You can also ask local radio stations for a recommendation. Having the right music, whether it's a DJ or a live band, is essential to spicing up the party and throwing a party your son or daughter will remember.

Food is the next big decision. The best way to accommodate a large party crowd is to have a variety of foods available. Of course, this can be a little costly. If you do not want to spend a lot of money on food, you can always serve hors d'oeuvres instead of a complete meal. Depending on how much you want to spend, you can be creative with the foods. You can have professional caterer prepare your foods or, if you have the time, you can prepare the food yourself. One way to spice up the food is to have it presented in a way that attracts attentions. Do not simply put it on trays and serve it. You can have it arranged nicely into patterns, with little decorations, or in bowls and plates that represent a theme. Be creative with it.

In fact, using a theme at your right of passage party is a very effective way to spice up the event. If your child is into technology, you can have a "techie" party--using decorations that represent the areas of technology that interest your child. You could host a luau, a party with a country western, Broadway, nighttime, or ocean theme. There are hundreds of themes. Check your local party store for ideas and decorations for your theme. There are a lot of easy ways to spice up a right of passage party. Find out what interests your son or daughter, get an idea about what generally interest your guests, and design your party around that theme. Choose the right entertainment and a variety of foods and drinks that everyone will enjoy; present the food in a way that gets everyone's immediate attention. By following these three simple steps, you are on your way to spicing up your next right of passage party.

Hire the Right DJ for the Right Occasion - Entertainment

Planning an occasion is a lot of hard work. No matter if it is a graduation, a wedding, a bar/bat mitzvah, an awards ceremony, or any other occasion, you spend hours planning what decorations to hang, what food and drinks to serve, what to wear, and who to invite. Do you have a DJ host your occasion, or do you simply play your own CDs? If you want to have an event that everyone will be talking about for days and years later, hire a good DJ to run your music and light show. Hiring a DJ can actually be fun. Just follow these simple tips, and you are sure to have a fabulous DJ suitable for any event.

TIP #1: Ask around. Ask your friends and family members to recommend a DJ who they have either worked with in the past or have listened to at another party or event. The best advertisement is word of mouth and your friends and family members will definitely be able to tell you if a particular DJ is good or not. If your friends or family members can't recommend anyone, you can also call local radio stations or a professional entertainment company or check the yellow pages.

TIP #2: Interview your potential DJs. Get to know them and learn about what they have to offer. Explain what type of music you and your guests want at the party or event. Ask the DJ if he or she has videos or cassette tapes of past performances that you can review. Most professional DJs will have samples. During the interview, study the DJ's personality. Is he or she someone who you would want at your event? Is the DJ interested in your event? How do you feel he or she will interact with your guests? Remember, the DJ's personality is very important. Make sure he or she is really who you want to DJ your special occasion.

TIP #3: Ask the DJ for his or her music specialty. Does the DJ have the style of music that you and your guests want to hear? Will the music be right for your specific occasion? Will he or she take requests? Can he or she provide a variety of music that you think everyone will like?

TIP #4: Ask for references. Any professional DJ will gladly provide them. You will want to carefully check the references before deciding to hire the DJ. After all, you would not want a lunatic hosting your special occasion! TIP #5: Make sure the DJ has all of the equipment that you will need at your gathering such as speakers, lights, microphone, etc.

TIP #6: Get everything in writing. Make sure the DJ knows the exact time, date, and location of the event. Make sure you agree on the fee and have all the DJ's promises in writing. You want to have all of your bases covered in case something does not go well.

TIP #7: Don't wait until the last minute to find a DJ. Start planning early. Many DJs are booked quickly with weddings, graduations, proms, and other parties. Try to book your DJ at least 3 months in advanced.

Consider booking a DJ when you are planning your next get-together. It is important to find the DJ who will best meet your occasion's needs without blowing your budget. Your guests will certainly remember the music from your event since the music will set the mood; so choose your DJ wisely. With a cool DJ that everyone likes, your event will be a hit, and everyone will talking about it for a long time!

How To Set Up Your Own FM Radio Station: Licensing And Start Up Issues - Marketing

There are several ways to set up your own radio station. It depends on how serious you are about it. The single most important thing you should know before you get started is why would you need to start your own radio station?

Maybe, it's because you are a DJ or you have a band and want to reach an audience with your songs. Maybe, you have a huge collection of rock music and want to share it with the world. Maybe you are a member of club and want to make money by broadcasting a certain type of music along with commercials. Maybe you are a candidate and want to spread the word about your nomination and your speeches. Or maybe you are just person who is passionate about radio stations and always wanted to start your own FM radio station. Whatever the case, you need to know what you are doing.

Here are the basics of setting up a new radio station in a nutshell.

First you have to make decisions on two issues. You must choose the right place where your studio will be located. Also you must decide whether your radio transmitter will be placed at your studio or in a remote location.

Next, it's time to obtain a FM radio station license that will allow you to legally broadcast your signal.

There are three types of FM radio station license:- The low power FM (Local)- The full power FM (Commercial)- License for Internet radio (Streaming Media)

You can start broadcasting your new radio station by obtaining at least one of the licenses mentioned. If you are serious about this then your goal should be to first acquire a low power FM license and then move on to the full power license. There's also the option to set up a radio station that streams sound on the internet which is the easiest way to go with, if you have no previous experience in FM radio stations.

Here are some issues you must consider after applying for the radio station license:

- How much money are you willing to spend for start up and ongoing costs?- What type of equipment will you need? For example transmission equipment or a radio automation system etc. Do you know how to choose the best transmitter for your radio station?- What is the process of getting in the air? Do you know how to use your equipment and go live? For example, do you know how many watts your broadcast equipment can handle? - How will you deal with music licensing, royalties and copyright issues? Do you know that you actually have to pay for that too?- How well informed are you on the subject of frequencies? Acquiring a license is one thing and obtaining a frequency for your radio station is a different thing. You have to fill and submit an application to request a new frequency.- Do you know what kind of personnel you need? Do you have a plan to find the right people for the job?

The idea of broadcasting your messages to others through a radio station becomes more and more popular. These days, we are so empowered with communication possibilities than ever before. For very little money anyone can broadcast their messages to the world.

How to Become a Babe Magnet - Relationships - Dating

So you would like to become more attractive to women, wouldn't we all? So what can you do to become more of a babe magnet? In this article I will be attempting to answer this question and will be providing free and useful tips to help you to attract more women.

I was listening to my local radio while travelling to work this morning and heard something which has inspired me to write this article. The channel I was listening to has a young female presenter in the mornings who described a recent experience that she had had. The experience was to shock her and would also provide men up and down the country with some valuable advice about what it takes to woo a woman.

She continued by describing a night out that she had recently been on where she was performing as a dj on stage with a couple of other people, one of which was somebody who played the bongos, a person whom she had not previously met. When she had been introduced to this bongo player earlier in the evening she had not felt any form of attraction to him. He was slightly over-weight with man boobs, had receding hair and long hair, these are things which the presenter would not normally look for in a man.

All of that was soon to change when she saw him play his bongos. She was blown away by how brilliant he was and was astonished that she was now beginning to see him in a different light. She also noticed that a large number of other women who were there were also showing an interest in him and this made her feel quite competitive, he is mine! Even though he isn't of course.

What I am trying to get across here is that looks are not the be all and end all. If you can become very talented at perhaps a sport, in music like the bongo player or in any other field, then women will be attracted by your greatness. I am now going to end this article as I need to start practicing playing the bongo!

How to blog - Publishing - Writing

A blog is a journal that's hosted on the Web and visible to other web users. Blogging is the activity of updating a blog; someone who keeps a blog is a blogger; and the entire universe of blogs is the blogosphere.

Bloggers typically update their blogs on a regular basisweekly, daily, or even hourly, depending on the blogger. The process of updating a blog is facilitated by the blogging software used, such as that provided by Blogger. Hosting a blog requires little or no technical expertise on the part of the blogger.

If you're diligent about keeping your blog fresh, you'll find that blogging takes timeeven when you utilize an easy-to-use tool such as Blogger. Not only do you have to create the blog, you have to create new blog posts on a frequent basis. Even if it only takes you 5 or 10 minutes to write and post a blog entry, the time starts to add up after awhile. Knowing this, how do so many bloggers find time for all these postingsand why?

For what it's worth, there isn't a single answer to that question.

You see, some people view their blogs as a kind of personal-yetpublic scrapbookan online diary to record their thoughts for posterity. Even if no one else ever looks at it, it's still valuable to the author as a repository of thoughts and information they can turn to later.

But that isn't always the case. Although some blogs are completely free-form, many other blogs have some sort of focus; there are blogs devoted to hobbies, to sports teams, to local events, to particular industries, and so on. There are people who blog for a cause, political or otherwise. (In fact, many people get their first exposure to the blogosphere via the network of leftwing and right-wing blogsespecially during an election year!)

In a way, the most serious bloggers are like columnists in the traditional media. They write with a passion, a point of view, and a personal sensibility that makes their blogs extremely interesting to read. Even bloggers who don't inject personal comments still offer a viewpoint based on what they choose to include and link to in their blogs. It's an interesting world out there in the blogosphere, and it's revolutionizing journalism (and journals) for the new online reality.

Of course, a blog can be moreor lessthan personal comments and observations. A big part of blogging is about interlinking to other blogs and to news and information on the Web. Look at any blog, and you're likely to see a list of related blogs (sometimes titled, "friends of..."). Bloggers like to link to other blogs that they enjoyas well as to news stories, photos, audio files, you name it.

In fact, many blogs are nothing more than links to interesting blog entriesthere isn't always a lot of original content there. The blogger finds something interesting, and then uses his blog to draw attention to that other posting. In this way, bloggers are a lot like radio disc jockeys, "spinning" links and snippets just as a DJ spins songs.

That said, serious bloggers not only sort through the blogosphere to find the most interesting articles, they also provide some background and organization to these postings, and in many cases add their own commentary. The best blogs have a definite point of view, no matter what content they're linking to.

And that's what blogging is all about. Even though a blog is public for everyone to read, blogging is ultimately an intensely personal endeavor. As with most personal endeavors, there are few, if any, rules. When you launch your Blogger blog, the words and pictures you post are yours and yours alone; the blog is just a tool you use to express yourself online./how_to_blog/

How to Make Your Own Beats That Create Residual Streams of Income - Forever! - Entertainment - Music

For people who are new to making your own beats for dollars, here is an interesting concept: if you create a hot beat, it will pay you many times over and above the time it took to create it. What do I mean when I say this? I mean your beats have value, not only to you but to others as well.

My rap group Prophetix, put together a single back in 2000 called "True Urban Grit". It was the first song we recorded with our new Dee Jay/producer. Little did we know that this song would become a standard (a song that stands the test of time) in our music catalog. We released the single to as many media outlets as we could including commercial, non-commercial, and college radio. We sent out press releases, email blast, and performed that song all over the United States. We even sent copies of it overseas.

We'll that song not only was a favorite in our live shows but it became #1 on Tokyo, Japan's most popular rap radio shows. Yes, I said Japan. We sold all of the copies that were pressed up so we made some money as well as gained recognition. After we had completed several other projects a few years later, we get a call from DJ Numark from Jurassic 5.

This was in 2005. My DJ knew Cut Chemist who was the other DJ in Jurassic 5 and I'm not sure how Numark got the song but somehow it ended up in his hands. He wanted to put out a mixtape with "True Urban Grit" on it so we begin negotiations. After the negotiations were over we finally agreed on some upfront cash to let him use the rights to our song. We settled on $1,500.00 which is not too bad for a song that was created 5 years earlier. The part that is even more amazing is that he only used the first 30 seconds of the song.

This was pretty cool considering we didn't expect this money to come at all. This is the power of not only creating rap beats but understanding music publishing as well. Making your own beats is an investment in your future. Is this for everyone? Certainly not, but for those that are serious about being in the business of music, it would do you good to learn about music publishing and royalties.

Wouldn't it be good to collect checks over and over for music you only worked to create once? I have only scratched the surface of the power of creating rap beats. Some artists don't even know they can collect fees for licensing their beats to BMI and ASCAP. These are the publishing societies that license your music to radio, television, movies, ringtones, etc. They also collect payment for you and send you a quarterly check if anyone uses your music.

Imagine what kind of checks Dr. Dre, Timbaland, Kanye West, and Just Blaze get just for creating rap beats. Now imagine how it would feel if you were getting these checks. It would feel good wouldn't it? So what are you waiting on? You have beats to create! Get started making and marketing your beats now and with a bit of luck and hard work you can get rich by making your own beats.

However, getting signed up is not easy because you have to meet certain requirements.Media contacts are important in building your career so start establishing a network in your area or in places youve held performances already. Next, promote yourself in different forms of media such as community newspapers, magazines, websites, radio stations, television stations, community access television, and music venues. Submit a press release to each of these or request a wr

Do your homework and study your craft. This will keep you ahead of the game. Make sure that you stay focused and maintain a clear path toward your goals. Believe in yourself and don't put your destiny in the hands of others. Your hard work will pay off in the end.

Great Tips on How to Become a DJ - Education

First of all, becoming a radio DJ is not as simple as one might think. There is much training involved as well as classes that you'll need to prepare you on how to become a DJ. Whether you want to work at a local radio station or a national broadcast station, you'll still need education and training.

If you are a high school student, you should fill your schedule with as many speech classes as possible, including extracurricular activities like drama and debate. However, if you have already graduated from high school, then consider taking classes at a local community college or accredited broadcasting school in your area. Why should you take speech and debate classes to become a DJ? Ask yourself this question: How often do you hear radio disc jockeys stumble through their sentences or say "umm" while they are on the air? Not very often. Knowing how to speak fluently and with articulation is very important when learning how to become a DJ. You should be able to speak clearly and precisely even if you are not familiar with the topic.

While attending college or broadcasting school you may be able to sign up for an internship, which will help you learn how to become a DJ. Ask your school about paid and unpaid internship opportunities. You could be closer to becoming a DJ with a radio internship on your resume.

Also, consider working part time at local parties as a DJ to provide you with more opportunities to practice working in front of people instead of in a radio broadcast booth. Becoming a DJ is hard work and you will have to be resilient if you find that radio stations do not accept you as an intern or if the internship is not exactly what you expected. There is always an opportunity to learn if you keep an open mind.

Learning how to become a DJ is not only about introducing music. You must also be able to read commercials, give news reports including weather and traffic, and conduct interviews. So speaking to people and in front of groups will help improve your speaking abilities. This is where all those speech classes will come in handy. In addition to taking classes, you can also record radio programs and then practice repeating the spoken parts to advance your speaking abilities. Do this many times until you can read the entire segment without oral inconsistencies or long pauses. Perform in front of friends and family, and also try to get small gigs at local weddings, house parties, small bars, and other holiday related events.

Another great tip on how to become a DJ is to go where radio personalities are making public appearances such as a grand opening of a new store, a charity drive or any other local event. Be an observer and hang out by the radio personality's tent or broadcasting station, and when he is not on the air ask the DJ a few questions about how he became a DJ. Ask if you can shadow him sometime, or just sit next to him and watch and listen while he is at that event. Carry a business card or other paperwork with your contact information as well. You may be surprised when you get a phone call or email inviting you to tour the radio station and talk to the radio DJs while they are working live on the air.

Whatever you do to learn how to become a DJ, be persistent, learn as much as you can and then keep on learning, be passionate about it, and of course, become a student at a local accredited broadcasting school to ensure a future of success.

How to make money while traveling. - Travel

Learning the skills of a makeup artist allows you to work from home, get money while traveling and in general use fashion makeup to increase your income

Ways to make money

Makeup artistry is a lucrative profession that most people dont realize is also a very travel friendly career. Most makeup artists work on location anyway, which means that their kit is always packed and ready to go where ever needed. So why not make sure that its needed in the Bahamas? There is no reason that as a makeup artist you should be restricted to one place. If you simply consider that the demand for makeup artists stretches far beyond your neighborhood you will open your mind and business to supply these demands. More so than just working gigs in the next town or city there is a whole world of weddings, banquets, and all kinds of celebrations that span over the seven continents. Now you can learn how to tap into this niche of traveling makeup artistry.

Travel Life

First of all, for all those skeptics out there, consider the whole idea of a location wedding. This trend is so popular that there is huge businesses providing couples with perfect location weddings, from party planners to rental places. Every bride wants to look stunning on her wedding day and thats where the dress, hair, and yes makeup come in. Since the demand for location weddings is so high there is definitely work for makeup artists, all you have to do is find it. If you have money to spare you can research where businesses accommodating location weddings advertise and then place an ad in the same place. If you dont have money for advertising find the businesses and then approach them with a deal. Either offer a finders fee for any clients they send your way or offer a joint referral, you send them clients and they send you. There are two types of businesses you want to approach. The first are ones in or around your area. These are local businesses that handle out of
town wedding arranging. These are a great source because the bride will be able to meet with you before the wedding and that will be a great comfort and selling point. The second businesses are the ones on location. Do some research to find popular places to get married then contact the business around there that may handle any part of the wedding arrangements. Look for hotels, party planners, caterers, photographers, djs, musicians, table/chair/table cloth rentals Youre not looking for things like sandals packages. You want couples planning their own location wedding and will therefore utilize these small businesses.

Get Paid For Being An Event Makeup Artist

Now if you dont believe that a bride will pay for you to travel to her wedding just to do her makeup youre wrong. Think of it as an artist being commissioned to do a painting. In art it is much more complicated than simply knowing a technique; it is about the artists style and natural ability. Along the same lines, a bride will pay to ensure that someone she trusts to help her look her best on her big day to be there. You are being commissioned as an artist. The other way you can travel through working as a makeup artist is by finding a traveling client. There are lots of people who are constantly traveling for their jobs, you want to find someone who is in the public eye enough to require your services. People like DJs, dancers, singers, actors, radio personalities, TV personalities, politicians Your chances of finding Britney Spears as your next client are slim, but dont forget that every geographical area has their own little regional celebrities climbing the fame ladde
r. Find local TV hosts, local talents, and local politicians. All these people have riders that they can add you to. Riders are lists of requirements that they have before someone books them. So a DJ may say that if someone wants to book her for an out of town gig they will also have to pay for an assistant and first class air fare and any thing else. You can easily get yourself onto someones rider because the person booking pays.
