Finding Dubstep Music - Entertainment - Music

As a dubstep DJ, it is important to strive to find new exotic tracks which are really very unique and dissimilar to a great many other tracks, for the purpose of mixing in soundclips when and where necessary, but primarily to fulfill the task we have been set. That of entertaining the Audience.

When it comes to how people find new tracks, the typical answer would be 'referred by friends' or 'heard in club, googled lyrics' - but how do people actually stay ahead of the new releases? Where are top-ranking DJ's sourcing their music from? And what if a track sounds cool but has no discernable lyrics?

Perhaps you are interested as an avid listener or genre enthusiast in finding the latest and greatest Dubstep, you probably find yourself on YouTube, trawling several channels. This is obviously an excellent way of staying relevant with new releases, but often many tracks will pass by you, seemingly under-the-radar simply because they weren't uploaded to the channel you regularly view.

Alternatively you may choose to buy CDs on a regular basis or use a service such as Itunes or Beatport. A solution indeed, but with a scene moving as fast as Dubstep, a lot of the unsourced, unsigned and very much underground tracks are the real movers-and-shakers, with larger already-popular artists producing tracks to entertain the majority rather than progressing the genre in general, by launching remixes. Besides, what's to say a CDs content will necessarily be relevant, new or even interest you?

There are several solutions, useful to the DJ, avid fan or casual listener alike.

Soundcloud is an immaculate invention, one used by many, many artists and up and coming Dubstep producers, and again this is an excellent way of following artists, and keeping your finger on the buzzer when it comes to almost-instant release notification. I feel however that it does lack the feature to actually find tracks that might interest you, easily.

Another solution would be to use a website or blog such as my own, which is updated several times a day with brand new tracks the second they are launched. Content is sourced from many different locations, and we also serve as publishers and promotors, with very close connections to many prominent and new talented producers, allowing us to truly strive forwards and push the boundaries of dubstep ever outwards, bringing new previously unseen awareness to such an excellent genre.
