Allstate Launches Campaign to Promote Awareness of Renters Insurance - Insurance

07/22/2004 - Northbrook, IL

Allstate Insurance Company announces a radio marketing campaign designed to educate consumers about the importance of renters insurance. The campaign launches the week of July 26 and includes radio advertising featuring spokesperson Dennis Haysbert with unique programming and sponsorships. The campaign integrates tactics to remind consumers how important rental insurance is to their financial protection: that their belongings aren't any less valuable because they rent.

Allstate's renter's insurance campaign targets twenty- something professionals, who may have a number of misconceptions about the value of their belongings. In addition, many renters are unaware of steps they can take to help protect the contents of their dwelling in the event that a loss is experienced. These individuals, on average, own about $20,000 worth of personal possessions.

"This campaign is designed to help renters understand they can protect their belongings with a renter's insurance policy for a relatively low cost," said Lisa Cochrane, vice president, integrated marketing communications, Allstate Insurance Company. "Many renters are not aware of the cumulative value of what they own and are also under the misconception that their stuff is protected by their landlord's insurance."

The radio campaign features 60-second program vignettes providing advice to current and prospective renters, DJ discussion and personal anecdotes about renting, and sponsorship of weather, traffic and entertainment reports. The promotion is designed to educate consumers and increase awareness about the need for renters insurance.

The promotion will launch in cities across the country including: Albany, Baltimore, Charlotte, Dallas, Denver, Greenville, SC, Nashville, New York City, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Rochester, NY, San Antonio and Washington, D.C.

PLEASE NOTE: The radio marketing campaign discussed above does not apply in Florida.
